Damn that would be a fun fight and there isnt to much out there that they can wrap up in and break off. May have to go for a stoll next weekend when I am in to see if any are around.

Not really, you're just trying to be cute and it's unnecessary. My wife was talking to a friend she saw walking, which is why she was so far behind. If you don't have anything to contribute to the actual thread topic, then beat it.

I think Lake Poncha train has some of the biggest jacks in the world. I remember catching them from the shoreline that Wade up to 43 pounds. Don't think I ever caught one lesson 25 pounds. Always on the South Shore. And always from shore. We used pogies we would snag with giant trouble hooks when they would swim by in giant schools. The Pogies work the best for Lake Poncha train Jack about my opinion. Much better than shrimp because redfish trout and hardheaded Would eat the shrimp

And that was last time VanRich was ever seen again...

Really do be careful, they can definitely drag you out. But if you insist on this ultra dangerous activity, and as your internet Lawyer and fellow Ob member, I recommend you reconsider, I will tell you how to catch them. Please Go pro this so if it is a colossal fail we can all get some fun out of this. (Or your widow can sell it to you tube to buy your a memorial.)

Big spinning rod, 25-30 lb test, 2-3 foot 60 or better lb fluorocarbon or mono leader, (Jacks don't like wire and sharks travel with jacks), Number 7 tru-turn hook with or without a stinger and 6 inch live croaker. No weight. Dead cigar minnow pogie or good size squid almost as good. And hang on and prey or pray.

It's not that dangerous. Plenty of people have kayaked across the lake. Even if it drags you out you're never more than about 15 miles from shore. And even fewer miles from our rig or the causeway. Make sure you have a UVf radio

Thanks for the concern guys, I can assure you, if it's looking like I'm going more than a couple miles out, ill probably cut away. Gopro will be strapped to the head.

whats with all this "be careful" bs? hook one of them big sob's and ride its arse to cuba if need to. just bring a cell phone or vhf. its only a jack not jaws that may eat your arse.
