It's not really noticeable if you hang out in the right circles/places. The mountain towns on the other hand are noticeable though.

Can there be one fricking thread about Colorado where some wise-arse doesn't make a crack about weed?

It's what all the cool kids are doing these days.
Are you in or are you out?

Out. But I've been to Colorado more than anyone here.

being a transient city, Denver is welcoming to all outsiders.
unless it has changed a hell of a lot in the past decade, this is just not true...when I lived there, natives were openly hostile towards outsiders...

Colorado seems pretty similar to Virginia in a lot of ways

I have only been there at various points over the past eight years, and I've never felt like it was an unwelcoming place. Not in the population centers, at least.

This is a retarded reason to not move there, esp since no group makes more such rules than the ultra conservative groups that rule the south.

It's a great area, Winters can suck, but Summers there I would take over almost anywhere else. It's just an area full of stuff to do and things to see. Natures is everywhere and the airport has cheap flights to almost anywhere. (As I type, SWA has tickets for $95 to/from NOLA)
There is something for everyone. Though as far as location, if you were to drive anywhere else for anything it's a long two day trip.

Just moved away from Colorado and I will say it is one of the most beautiful states I have seen. I would move back when the time is right. Not a perfect state, but offers something for everyone except the ocean.

i have lived here for 14 years, I would say that natives are very friendly. Much friendlier than the asswipes from texass and california.
I would say half of my friends are natives, which per other people is a tad unusual. the other half is from iowa which is pretty typical.

Is there any validity to people claiming the high cost of living? I live in Orleans Parish (Lakeview) and can't imagine the COL being much higher in and around Denver than it is here. Our property tax, homeowners/flood/car insurance is through the roof and the housing prices are crazy. 50' wide lots are running $200,000 in Lakeview.

It's a different breed of conservatism though. This militant, no bend ideology you see elsewhere simply does not pervade Colorado -- people are reasonable.
I disagree. State politics are dominated by Christian coalition types
