I doubt he intended to make him bleed.

he just wanted to whip him 63 times with a switch as hard as possible but no bleeding was intended.

Also, for those trying to make the stupid argument that "if I went up to someone else's kid and hit him with a switch I'd get arrested..." You're totally right. You'd also get arrested for kidnapping if you tried to confine someone else's kid to a room in your house. If their parents do it, it's called grounding them. Guess we can't ground anybody either now.

Actually, the boy was assaulting his brother. Launced him off the motorcycle.

Grounding =/= a professional athlete beating a 4 year old til he bleeds. And yes I get it people were tougher back in your day

The reasoning of "well it happened to me and I'm normal so it must be okay" is ridiculous and extremely flawed

Disciplining your own child with a switch =/= assaulting someone else's child in public

Reading comprehension. Try it out. I'm saying the people using emotion and media coverage to fuel their outrage. HE BEAT A KID! HE'S A SADISTIC PIECE OF shite! KILL HIM!

As I said, he obviously went overboard, and I'm sure he knows that. People making comments like he "should be strung up" and "put under the jail" are plain stupid.

LOL.

If he hit this kid as hard as possible the kid would've needed a skin graft. This is AP we're talking about here.

This is incredible. It wasnt too long ago that it was acceptable to get beat with paddle (with holes in it!) at Catholic HS by a loving "Christian Brother"

My Daddy got the belt out for me one time and I hauled arse.

Trouble was, he got on MY bike and chased me down. I can still remember his knees sticking out 'cause he was too big for it as he peddled after me, belt in hand

I also remember getting paddled by coaches hard enough to draw blood - we sort of saw that as a badge of courage/honor, in those days.

Funny stuff but I don't think it made me have a lot of warm and fuzzy feelings for my old man.

Didn't do any of that kind of stuff with my kids.

What lesson was your dad trying to teach you with the fish hook? Because in both of my scenarios a dad was just trying to teach their kid a lesson. And I'm not sure what the lesson is in your scenario other than "pay more attention to your kids when fishing"

falling off a bike is an accident, hooking your kid while fishing is an accident. what he did was not an accident.

just stop.

edit: and the lesson from that fishing accident was not to fish on the other side as my dad

What the frick does a four year old do that warrants being whipped until he's bleeding?

Seriously. Was the kid beating on smaller kids or something? Were people in danger because of this kid?
