Yes he was assaulting his brother, chunking him off the motorcycle.

Exactly. You're first memories are around age 3-4. It's sad that one of the first things this kid will remember is getting beat by his professional athlete dad

I mean I'm all for disciplining my kid. Spanking and other things but to repeatedly beat a child and leave open wounds and blood is child abuse. No if ands or bits about it.

I feel like I need to go get a switch and pop myself a good 10 times to see what it does to my skin. I caught whoopings as a kid, so I tend to think this may look worse than it is, especially in today's extremely oversensitized and reactionary society.

ETA: That being said, I don't whip my daughter. She's gotten a two pat spanking once or twice, but that's it. I guess that flies in the face of AP's excuse of that's how he was disciplined. I have no problems with how I was disciplined as a kid but I still don't use those methods either.

what about the dad's that just dead arm/leg the kid and leave bruises but don't break skin? Is that ok because they're not bleeding?

I got the belt when I was a kid but my parents never made me bleed. Especially not at age 4.

Hitting a toddler in the scrotum with a tree branch deserves the reaction. Accidental or not it was the result of a beating that went too far

Did I say that was ok? Most of the time if u spans a kid it will bruise. U can tell a too hard spank by the bruise as well. I mean I got spanked a ton and had some bruises but they weren't over the top blue and yellow bruises.

O and he's freaking 4!

I might actually get a switch out of the yard and see just how hard I have to hit myself to draw blood

I'm sure some of you sick frickers are chomping at the bit to volunteer for the role of "whipper", but I'm a little old for y'all

Leaving marks on your child like htis is just not acceptable. It may have been acceptable in the past, but not now.
I'm a parent that spanks sparingly and thinks it can be an effective form of loving discipline, but I agree with this.

I think AP was more ignorant than malicious. If media and society can be reasonable, AP can be appropriately punished, learn from this and continue his career. Everyone is so extreme and reactive these days though, so who knows?

You're not 6'2'' 225 either.

Is it possible that AP, being a physical freak, just naturally hits harder than the average person given the same amount of effort?

People are imagining AP just cocking back and flogging this kid with all of his might, when that wasn't the case. If it were he'd probably have permanently maimed the kid.

This is a fact, if there was video of AP spanking his kid going off w/ a temper tantrum probably cussing up a storm hitting him excessively etc, he would be cut this week.

Then hit him once. He had to see it bleeding. He did it multiple times. Hell more than multiple.
