i'll bet you're sorry we don't run the spread.

newsflash; teams gameplan around EVERY COACHES PHILOSOPHY.

I disagree wholeheartedly that we telegraph every play. sure, we run a lot of the SAME PLAYS and opponents gameplan around those plays BUT run blitzes and stacking the box is a damn dangerous strategy against cam Cameron. many of our long successful pass plays are the result of this "gambling" by their D and they were burned for it big time. and, if AJ and the OL and RB can learn to execute the screen pass it will be even more devastating to the opposing D that stacks the box.

as far as "creative" play calling, i'm just gonna come right and say you don't know what you're talking about. occasionally you can fool a defense but consistently winning football games is about EXECUTION, not trickery.

Arkansas consistently gashed right up the middle or the defense.

did the line up in a one wr set with the backs in an I formation and two TE's? Did they complete any of those 2-3 passes? Just splitting out another WR moves another defender out the box who has to split out with him and also makes a safety move a little farther back. We line up in a goal line formation on 1st and 10 and on 2nd and 10. Spreading out the offense formation and generating even a little bit of pass offense would greatly loosen up the defense. Look what it did in the second half of the Wisconson game when we loosen up the d a little by spreading out. Surely Wisconsons defense is tougher than ULM's.

We don't need creativity we just need to loosen up a little and utilize the talent that exists on our offense. The o-line looked pretty dam good in the second half against Wisconson and against Sam Houston St.

Because nobody will respect our passing game until we can competently throw the mid range pass.

Offensive Line recruiting has been over rated and weak for the past several years. This combined with bad technique coaching have taken a toll.

Grimes can only do so much in one year. He said in the Spring that he wants a certain type of Offensive Lineman that has size, strength, agility and FOOTBALL SMARTS. He wants guys that can all gel and play together as one unit with minimal mental breakdowns, (Not necessarily the biggest and strongest ones)

He doesn't have that at LSU right now. Will take a few years of recruiting his type of OL's to get it corrected. (Hey Jeff, go up North more for your OL's)

the easiest way to complete a mid range pass is to throw it on 1st down, out of a two or three wr set with multiple options to throw to. Oddly enough this, this is also the easiest formation to successfully run the ball out of.

UL Monroe was known to be a good defensive team and played like it. Had we not dropped some of the early passes the first half would have been better for us offensively. However, we were predicted to win by 31 points and won by 31 points. The coaches chose to wear down Monroe, and did. It was a grind out game. As the two QBs get better they will be used more. I don't see a problem at this point--only good.

true, I think they also intentionally put the o-line in a bad position just to give them the extra work. Would have been to easy to beat them any other way and we did it by 31 the hard way anyway.

All of the above replies, plus, the backs sometimes tend to run with head up OL's arse and miss the hole, as I witnessed on more than one occasion against ULM...

Sitting in the EZ at wisky game, holes would open and backs would not hit them fast enough or run up the OL's arse...KH hit some in 2nd half, I could have ran thru...SO, it's not all on the OL everytime a run fails...

Because the opponents have been putting 8-9 guys in the box and we run it up the middle.

We can execute others plays if we want to, but they don't feel the need. Frankly, neither do I. Yet.

It seems as though we always telegraph our run plays as well. Either the fullback or quarterback almost always use a hand signal behind their back to indicate the direction

Hand signal by fullback or QB to the direction of the run play. Even if the lineman don't see it I'm sure the linebackers do. Do all teams do this? Just seems like we do it a lot and I'm sure other teams notice this. Maybe it's just me I don't know.

I've heard this argument before. From BRAVEHEART. Like him, you are saying our current o-linemen are not intelligent, correct? That the players "up North" (code) are more intelligent than the type we currently have starting, right?

You sure you are not BRAVEHEART's alter? He is somewhere on here masquerading under a different name. You fit the profile. Those are his words exactly. I guess you also feel Pocic, Dodd and Clapp are the best linemen we have. Of course that would fit TIGRLEE as well.
