Is Traffic Really Worse at LSU than Other Places?

I have been to several LSU games over the past few years - including a big game in 2011. I have also been to games in Tuscaloosa and Auburn when LSU played there. Honestly, the traffic/parking situation seems about the same.

Auburn is a nightmare, whether you park on campus by the stadium (was able to do this with a pass one year recently) or with everyone else about a mile or more from the stadium. Takes forever.

Alabama is the same way. You get stuck trying to get off of that campus and just don't move.

I have never left an LSU game early. Yeah, I've waited an hour or more to get out of the traffic, but I never thought that it was worse than anywhere else I've been with 85-100K people on a college campus.

It definitely is not enough to make me leave a game early.

So, for those who have been to other SEC stadiums, what has your experience been? Is LSU THAT much worse than others to require so many fans to leave at halftime or in the 3rd quarter of almost every game?

Tuscaloosa is the worst I've ever seen, it seems like there's only one way out

I don't think it's worse but don't act like it's a problem limited to LSU. This is a problem that plagues every major team.

I don't think so. Traffic is always going to be bad, relatively speaking with 100,000 people attending any event.

It doesn't hold a candle to the nightmare which is Athens, GA after a well-attended game.

It's like this at every sec venue (except Vandy). Most sec stadiums are in typical college towns and the infrastructure will never accommodate those 6-8 days per year.

honestly, all are pretty damn bad...only problem is that LSU is a bit worse because it is bounded by a river to the west...

one place that I was totally impressed with was the university of washington...there were about a hundred busses waiting outside of the staduim after the game and they cleared out a hell of a lot of folks almost immediately...

No. LSU fans just bitch more. An LSU fan would win the lottery and complain that the money isn't green enough.

the absolute worst I have ever sat in was trying to get out of south bend in 1998. took nearly three hours to get on the interstate, mainly cause only one way out, then had to wait for every one to go through toll booths.

ridiculous.

Athens is by far the worst in the SEC. I can't imagine the whaling and grinding of teeth LSU fans would display if they had to endure such traffic. Like someone mentioned, there are no interstates nearby.

Not sec but:

University of Texas -Austin

Independence a Stadium with a crowd over 40k

These two make LSU's parking seem like a non event.

I've been to Ole Miss and Arkansas. Both had bad traffic. We just relax, have a beer and listen to the radio. I can't figure out where everybody needs to go that late so fast. Just to many people to move out at once.

People leave because:

-the contest is won
-their kids are tired
-their hangover is hurting
-don't feel like waiting through the too long halftime
-can't buy booze in the stadium
-want some sex
-its hot, its cold
-seats are cramped
-maybe beat the traffic

But most people don't leave when we play a competitive team. Simple.
