Most are just concerned with the lackluster performance against an inferior opponent with an average defense. ULM's defense is no where near the level that we will face in SEC play. But, the games still have yet to be played. I just hope this time can elevate their game when the time comes.

LSU held ULM to 93 yards of total offense yet apparently that defensive effort was not noticed by the whiners on this board.
Everyone noticed that.

The kicking game was solid and special teams were good in all phases.

Offensively LSU was running at 8 in the box from the start but continued to run at ULM's DLs until LSU avhieved success.
So instead of trying to beat a decent defense straight on we just pounded it until we beat them on depth and talent. Yippee.

In case sone didnt realize it at the time Cam Cameron was experimenting with different packages last night. LSU ran with Hilliard at FB and TB, Williams at FB andTB.
I wouldn't call switching the tailback and fullback "different packages".
quote:

LSU lined up in double TE sets a few times.
I sure as hell wouldn't call a double tight end a "different package."

There was more going on last night than apparently some of the posters on this board realize.
There was some more, but it was largely ineffective and apparently you didn't see it either.

31-0 is not a "lackluster" performance against anyone.

Sure. The OL is still a concern, and the offense as a whole needs to execute better going forward, but there was A LOT to be happy with last night.

There are some LSU "fans" who won't be happy unless LSU beats Bama 59-0, and then they will say: "Well, Bama is down this season." I am just happy that I don't to watch the games with them. I will never understand them.

Back to back shutouts for the first time since 1985.

So, aparently it's not all that easy????

31-0 and totally dominated the game, played a lot of players, had a center making his first start and playing action on the season.

LSU did what LSU needed to do in this game --- "opening up the offense" and winning 56-0 would not have accomplished any more.

Fans need to trust coaches. This team did NOT play flat or play "down to the competition" last night

OK, I'll speak up as someone concerned about the offense.

Everybody can agree that our D was great last night. But great D can make a lacking O look better than it really is.

In the first half we had 8 possessions.
punt 3&out
punt 3&out
FG 45 yds
TD 85 yds
punt 3&out
punt 3&out
punt 6&out
Int 24 yds

So half of our possessions were 3&out... against ULM.
In the first half we couldn't run very well against them, and the passing game was lacking too.

yes, we can wear ULM out by the 3rdQ. But with that type offense, it will be our D that is worn out against better competition.

31 points isn't as impressive when you get so any tries (thanks to our great defense) against a team like ULM.

Exactly. Lackluster. Period.

We do this against Auburn, Bama, ATM, OM or Fla and we get raped. Like I said, I hope this team can elevate their play against the upcoming SEC teams.

So tell is what it SHOULD have been and I would like to know what YOU think the score should have been.

I mean LSU won by 4 touchdowns and a field goal. That's 31 points.

Is that not enough for you?

Since I know most of you chicken littles love to compare to what Alabama does because that's what you do....

Alabama won by 40 and have up points to a team worse than ULM.

So what is you want? Would you feel better if LSU would have won 52-12?

Point differential

LSU +31
Alabama +40

So let me guess. Alabama wins that game in November 9-0?

exactly, if LSU had opened it up last night and won 63-0 then we would have won the Alabama game 33-10!!! Why can't Les see this, it's so clear

Not sure about the score but I think we should have shown more imagination on offense than what we showed. The way our defense dominated if our offense would have put together some drives we could have been much more impressive running the ball on a non sec caliber defense.

Not sure why CLM/CC is so opposed to spreading out opponents and utilizing our talent but it is clearly evident he is against it. Instead of being stubborn and sticking with the power running game he could have spread the formations and still run the ball. Once you have worn them out then try the power running game. Maybe we score 50 maybe we don't...maybe the defense allows only 50 yards. I guess some fans don't see the value in running your offense in every game and gaining confidence.

I'm not going to say the sky is falling, but I'm holding out on my opinion on the strength of the team to this point. I went to Sam Houston's home game last night to watch them play the Colorado State University Pueblo (CSUP). This was a HOME game for Sam, they lost 47-21 with two of the touchdowns happening with under six minutes left in the game. I sent a text to my wife at halftime stating how bad this Sam Houston team really is. It actually made me a little nervous seeing a team like CSUP virtually do the same thing to this team that LSU did.
Obviously there are other factors and you can't directly compare two different games but it did make me question at what level are we really playing compared to the other SEC teams in the West.

Trout you know you will be called a hater when you second guess these les mile lovers in here hello people we can speak the obvious when this team goes into SEC play and gets manhandled by more physical teams. If we say something negative get the frick over it people. LSU fan way before most in here thru the good years and bad years. And still here.

It seems people forgot ULM is third nation in sacks. They have a very good dl and defense. I wasn't bothered by this game like everybody else. Fournette looked locked in. Had he played more we could have scored a few more td's.

I agree that a 31-0 win is nothing to whine about but why do some of you get so butthurt over people complaining about things? This is an internet forum for LSU fans. I think most people on here realize that the world won't end if LSU doesn't win a NC every year but if there is a place to voice your thoughts/concerns about our team, this is it. I swear some of you think the "negatigers" are at home cutting themselves every time we have less than 5 WRs in the game

I think you have it wrong. We would be happy if LSU beats ULM 59-0, and just simply 'beats Bama' in any way possible.

We have done neither for years.

They didn't have to and they still won by 31.

I just don't understand why everyone has such a hard on on what kind of plays are run vs. certain teams. It's ridiculous.

A 31 point win is a 31 point win. Fact is that every game is different along with the game plans. Everyone here, for some reason, just thinks that LSU is going to trot out the same gameplan and same game calls vs. Florida/Bama as they did vs. ULM and NM St.

That's absurd.
