rumors are a watch(meh) and a new phone.
Not as exciting as a TV but stock price always does well after these events.

I've got some $105 9/20 calls open, I'm hoping there's more to the announcement than the new phone and the watch or there will be a good chance they will be worth jack.

Of all the smart watches this is the first one that attempted to be smart actually and not appear smart. I like how it looks more like a watch than the rest. Versus look all sci-fi and really not do much. I think the release was a total positive for long-term investors.
Tim Cook was very confident.

I'm surprised at the drop.
The 6 phone is going to be a massive hit. As soon as some people start getting these bigger screens, everyone is going to have to have one. Keeping up with the jones and all that.
As far as the watch, I think it's going to be much bigger than many are saying. Not having to dig in a pocket for your iphone to read or send txt message is big. I had zero interest in a watch until I saw how nice they look and thought about functionality.
Payments I think will also be huge..
I think the release is as much, or more, than anyone guessed...but I'm obviously wrong as the stock is now down 1%

Stock was down over 2% the day the 5s / 5c was presented. It was a huge success. Stock up 45% since then.

Do prices on older iPhones usually drop after new ones are announced?

Yes, I believe they mentioned in the presentation the new pricing scheme. They did drop.

Ugly looking day on AAPL. I'd be concerned if it drops below ~$90. I should add I never thought it'd get back above its 2012 high, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I think people are selling off to get price lower. And ramp it back up towards Christmas .

Does Apple make any money off the transactions utilizing Apple Pay? If so this is a huge deal as they already have many big retailers lined up. I can't find any news articles giving the details on this.

They asked the Mastercard president this exact question 3x this morning on Squawk, he tiptoed around it each time repeating "the economics on our end aren't changing".

If they do charge the retailer even a .1% processing fee it would be a huge deal for Apple. They would have once again gained a toehold in another income stream that could increase their bottom line significantly. The fact that the guy wouldn't answer unequivocally one way or the other leads me to believe the details haven't been ironed out just yet.

some guy on CNBC yesterday was saying that they were only getting .3% per transaction
I read the credit card companies gave them discounts as well as 'credit' for having the card present.
the guy discussing this was making the point that his optimistic projections had this only bringing 1% to the bottom line any time soon
ETA: changed .003 to .3% for clarity

thats interesting. I have a friend in the credit card processing industry. While he doesnt deal with big retailers, I would imagine Apple Pay being a threat to their bottom line.
would be huge for anyone with Apple stock tho.
