Its all part of the overall cultural de-evolution. It almost like parents don't teach manners anymore....everything is learned from reality TV.

But 20 years ago we didn't have 10 games a week on national tv, we didn't have 5 or 6 recruiting services calling these kids during high school and we didn't have social media. Parents are certainly to blame but so is our fixation on all of this!

You ever seen "The U" on ESPN? It used to be much, much worse.

I wish it was like it was, say 30 years ago, when you had clean cut programs like the Miami Hurricanes rulling the college football roost.

Dude how long have you watched college football. Do you remember the Miami Hurricanes in the 80s?

Miles definitely has his players on a very loose leash. It's just embarrassing to watch them celebrate a tackle as, say, Wisconsin marches down field.
I don't mind celebrations, but it becomes meaningless and silly when you do it every play.

I've heard that some of the Oklahoma teams from that time frame were almost as bad.

I think CLM should encourage all players, who make plays, to strike the pose. The last Tiger who did that is now the highest paid DB in the NFL.
LF made no mistake that he wants to win the Heisman and a National Championship while at LSU. He has set goals for himself and y'all are dogging him for it? Lord have mercy....He can strike the pose every damn TD he makes for all I care.
I'm striking the pose right now...in my cubicle.....boom!

Que the .....You're just old and bitter.
Prob angry too.

Ha I'm neither (particularly) old nor bitter. I like when players so emotion and heart, but it becomes ridiculous when you act like a routine play is an ESPN highlight.
As for LF, it was just an eye-roller. I think Miles was more upset than I was.

Once upon a time, the consensus would've been that these are examples of poor sportsmanship.
I think you probably meant to post this in 1991, when Desmond Howard did it for U of Michigan.
As mentioned several times in this thread, go watch "the U" on ESPN.
Those guys didn't just talk trash on the field, they actually called their opponents hotel room before a bowl game to talk shite. Then they trashed the dude's hotel room

50 years ago they were in the bottom of the pile nut grabbing, biting and spitting. I am not too sure which is worse! I would rather a guy beat me and pose than grab me by my cods, if we are talking discipline and respect I. Am not so sure one is worse than the other
Posted on 9/8/14 at 9:48 am to JdbsLSUBR
It was worse in the 80's and early 90's when taunting wasn't penalized.
Posted on 9/8/14 at 10:00 am to JdbsLSUBR
Go watch the 30 for 30 with the U you moron.

People have been doing the heismen pose as a celebration for 20+ years.
I know of 3, Howard, Peterson, and Fournette. Who else has done it? Serious question.

Heisman posing, excessive celebrating, taunting your opponent during a game, calling-out your opponent before a game, etc. are components of the culture of college football that are never going away. Once upon a time, the consensus would've been that these are examples of poor sportsmanship. Such is no longer the case.
Weirdly through the fans at the game are far better behaved.
