It was inevitable under Obama. That is the elitist Democrap plan -- to put as many people on the government dole so that they have no choice but to vote for Democrats.

And when the whole goddamn thing comes crashing down, then what?

It's that the American people as a whole are getting dumber.

Society doesn't have the attention span of a gnat today. Couple that with the narcissistic attitude that permeates, with a me.. me.. me.. what's in it for me and you have what we are becoming. Dems seized upon this selfishness long ago, and the programs that have drained this country are a result. It's in a downward spiral.

Now, today's majority establishment R's are cut from the same cloth. Whether D or R, they are in it to take care of themselves and their families and most of what you see is simple lip service and grandstanding. It's not about the 2%. It's about the moral compass this country has taken over time. It's about laziness. It's about selfishness. And that's problems that isn't a right or left issue. It's a human condition that politicians have used to their advantage.

Doesn't exactly graph out like "a fairly steady decrease," does it?

There has been a fairly steady decrease in the wealth of American's for some years now.

Unless you're talking about the years of the recession/recovery specifically, this claim is objectively incorrect.

ETA: so DracSanctions happily chimes in to agree, natch!

You just now coming to this realization?

When the republicans only give kickbacks to the people that screw everyone on their way to the top. How do you think the rest of the electorate is going to vote?

This is the equivalent of "Dems wanting to keep everyone poor and dependent."

Just yesterday I read a story about the "glasses crisis" in this country and how millions of Americans are going without prescription glasses because they cannot afford them. This "affordability" crisis is literally extended to every good (even tampons). You would never see stories like this in earlier times.

Women were kept in the home in earlier times. Tampon crises solved.

And in earlier times people didn't really need to read (or drive) as much as they do now. Glasses crises solved.

I bet in earlier times no one had a need for an appendectomy, either - they just died. Health care crises solved.

Nah, but the basis is phony.
The vast majority of Americans' wealth is tied up in their homes. As housing prices have dipped, so has the paper wealth of most Americans.

Wealth disparity media garbage dealers simply exhibit the fact that "figures don't lie, but liars figure."

The republicans problem is they are liars just like the democrats. They pound their chest and campaign on smaller govt and less govt control. Then they contradict their own words at every turn, just like the democrats.

The two political parties want the same thing; more control over the people's everyday lives.

"Vast" may be a bit severe.

The figures I find on the intertubes says 25 T in homes / 44 T in total household wealth = 57%. A majority, for sure - but not "vast".

As opposed to the present day, where facts such as the three graphs in this thread are simply ignored by libs. They are ignored and/or suppressed as inconvenient truths,

They are getting poorer because of democratic policies.

The only problem I see is the school kids are being brainwashed from K through college by the leftist in academia.

I don't see as big a problem as you do.

Republicans are a majority of the governors, the House is Republican and the senate is favored to be Republican.

The Dems have brought the presidency into the uber stratosphere and thus in order to pack the courts that are changing America the lie, cheat, and do anything necessary to win the presidency, and the fact that it is an electoral vote, narrows their targets down to three or four states they must win, NOT WHAT THE FORE FATHERS ENVISIONED.

Evety vote should count.

Not sure I get you, exactly. There has not been a "steady" decrease in anything to now, even if one arbitrarily chooses the absolute summit of wealth, per capita income, standard of living, or any other point as the baseline.

And in the longer-term picture (like compared to previous generations), we remain damn near the historical peak, although there are smaller cycles around the overall trend. But even at the nadir of this last recession, we were still relatively close to the top historically.

Again, it depends how you play the numbers . . .
