Timothy Chandler was a straight up chode for like 8 months and was included.

I don't think we do any better, or worse, with Donovan at the WC, results wise.

This, although he would've been so much better than Brad Davis.

ETA: Don't think these threads will ever end. I fully expect there to be something about LD's exclusion when the 2018 WC squad is announced.

He's that important to a lot of folks on here, and they'll never get a reason that will satisfy them—not that it exists or anything.

It's not just that - it's also a monumental clusterfrick of a decision.

If Les Miles wins eight more national championships - the 2012 BCS title game will still always be an epic frick-up, and the way he handled the QBs in that game will never make sense.

Wondo did exactly what Jurgen and the rest of the country wanted/expected of him. He put himself is a position to score from a close range. Yeah he botched the hell out of it but that's on him not Jurgen.

It is not about the result. It is the about the process.

There is a realistic chance we could have removed any player from the team (including Howard or Bradley) and still ended up losing to Belgium in the long run.

To be fair his goal was a penalty (which should've never been awarded btw)

But yeah he had a great game regardless.

We definitely we have lost had Howard been left out

I think Guzan could have kept it just as close.

I think LSU fans give Miles too much grief for that. The other QB (I can't remember his name) had thrown a ton of INTs in his past games against UA. Yeah, Jefferson was playing terribly, but nothing suggested the other guy would have done any better.

Portugal would have performed the same without Ronaldo, results wise. You can play that game all day. We would have done the same results wise if I was on the team instead of diskerud. That doesn't make it the right move and should really never be used to justify the decision.

We still lost to Belgium in the game of Howard's life. I think we still would have made it to the game, but we just would have been slaughtered instead.

Assuming Donovan started and/or played significant minutes had he made the roster, I really do think Jozy's absence wouldn't have been as crippling.

It's just amazing to watch how Donovan manipulates a defense in the attacking third when he's on the ball. We had NOBODY in Brazil that could connect the midfield to the forwards like he still does. He has been on fire for the Galaxy in the past 2 weeks.

This goal he scored against the Rapids a week and a half ago shows you just how good this guy still is.

Yeah, except for the fact that that "other" quarterback played in the game in which we beat bama earlier in the season, and took us 3/4 of the way through the season. Jefferson on the other hand couldn't hit a five foot pass and had shite for brains. I love when non LSU fans defend Les. Actually wait, I don't, because they're utterly clueless. Hes getting paid millions of dollars a year and still doesn't know how to manage the game clock. Ole Miss disaster anyone?

LSU won that first Bama game in spite of Lee and still would've lost the rematch if he were to play.
