All three big franchises with sequels planned.
To paraphrase the great Robert Benchley:

"Leave the dishes in the sink, mother -- there's a Zoe Saldana picture playing tonight!"

This will cause some confusion, I'd suspect.

I think Tom Cruise has to be part of this discussion. He has picked his roles very well the last 5-10 years or so and his movies always seem to do well

Edge of Tomorrow flopped at the box office.

I'd say Jennifer Lawrence and I honestly don't think it's close.

Agree with this and probably due more to sex appeal than great acting though I do think Lawrence is a very good actress.

Wouldn't be shocked it gets its money via rental

Downey Jr. wasn't his current self when Iron Man came out. No one was seeing that movie because of his name.

It'll do fine as a rental, sure, but box office take is the measure of success.

You're clearly trolling if you say don't know any of those names

Your definition of movie star in this case seems pretty spot on but no idea why you think will Smith is still that high up. And the rock gets made fun of more than anything even though I really enjoy his movies

The Rock benefits from being part of ensembles in franchises. Hercules wasn't a big flop, but it didn't open to great numbers.

Are we comfortable saying Vin Diesel is at the top of the list? It's tough, because he sucks, but his movies open.

Uh, it's not who has been in hot movies in the last 30 minutes. It's who can get a meeting with anyone, "open" a movie almost every time, be approached for a variety of roles AND virtually guarantee a solid two week gross.

That's one way of thinking about it.

That's the only way to think about it.

If I weren't a Parks and Rec fan, I would have no idea who Chris Pratt was because I'm not 12-years old and don't go to see the recent movies he has been in.

I, for one, couldn't get a ticket to go see 'Her' because of all those 12 year olds who were crowding the theater.

Chris Pratt is a better actor than Sam Worthington though. I think he'll stick around for a while.

I'm really convinced Sam Worthington sold his soul to Satan in order to star in the highest grossing film of all time.

You said he is in movies for 12 year olds. That was clearly wrong, so I picked a movie that would show it.

5 years ago it was Will Smith and it wasn't close but he decided to go slightly crazy. 4th of July weekend was known as Big Willie weekend, nobody opened movies up against his.

FTR, from what I remember of Pratt, now that I know who he is, I think he's probably got some talent.

He's got a ways to go, though to be in the same category as Bale, DiCaprio, Downey, Jr., Lawrence, etc., even as "movie star" is defined in this thread.
