I've tried staying out of this thread, and I will just quote a couple things, but...

quote:

We've lost only two games in the last 4 years by double digits. Think about that for a second.

These moral victories is what frustrates me most about Wisconsin football fans. If we lose by seven, are you going to come here thumping your chest that our string of close losses continues?

quote:

Your running back Leo Fournette will end up being an average back. I've seen this story far too many times. 5 star kid highly recruited out of high school, treated like a celebrity when he enters college, and he ends up amounting to nothing. I think the guy will be a good back, but won't be the unstoppable machine everyone thinks he will be. I believe you guys recruited another running back as well, so here's my prediction - that guy ends up being the better back when it's all said and done.

This is retarded. I've seen your story far too many times: you come to an opposing team's message to stir up trouble and end up looking like you have no idea what you're talking about.

So, let me get this straight: because Fournette is thought of so highly around here and treated like a celebrity, and rightfully so as the No. 1 overall player in his class, he will amount to nothing? There have been plenty of stories praising his work ethic and coachability (i.e. approaching the veterans, coaches, etc). Couple that with his physical stature and noticeable talent and you have yourself a player that will amount to a good college back if that persona does not change.

quote:

We're not TCU.

We're not Oregon.

No, we're not. We just lost to these two programs in back-to-back Rose Bowls in 2010 and 2011.

quote:

and your defensive line appears to be thin and inexperienced.

So is ours.

quote:

we sport one of the best offensive lines in college football,

So do they.

quote:

I expect us to gain 200+ yards against you on the ground.

They expect to as well.

Probably won't post much on TigerRant until our game in 2016, but I've lurked around TigerDroppings for the better part of two years and began posting about a year ago... I'll probably stick around.

Yep. From your own 20 to midfield twice in each of the first 3 quarters and once in the fourth.

Thanks for your post! Better coming from you and well put. Unfortunately every team has idiots that propose to have crystal balls and love to talk smack.

Enjoy the season............

I'm very curious about your QB situation. What are your thoughts? Seems like most of your fans like the move. Is Stave that bad

I agree that LSU will have to pass successfully to win. We will learn whether they can soon enough.

How can you hate a conference?

Joel Stave has become a scapegoat for many Wisconsin fans because of the instability at quarterback since Scott Tolzien. By instability, I mean the previous staff had to go out and get a graduate transfer in Russell Wilson to stabilize the position for a single season. Stave, himself, began his career at Wisconsin as a walk-on and ended last season as a sophomore T-2nd in the B1G in TD passes.

He is not a great quarterback by any means. I would go so far to say he isn't even a good quarterback. He is, however, an above-average quarterback with strengths and weaknesses. He is not as bad as some make him out to be.

He does have 19 career starts under his belt, but some believe he does not protect himself from taking hits in the pocket. This is especially concerning when you consider his history of shoulder/collarbone injuries. He has trouble hitting receivers in stride downfield. Jared Abbrederis, who ended his career as one of the best receivers to ever come through Wisconsin, was underthrown numerous times in 2013. He also has a tendency to hold onto the ball too long in the pocket.

Not sure what to think about McEvoy. Kid is obviously talented with size. Had a pretty good offer list out of high school (South Carolina, Louisville, Miami (FL), Michigan, UNC, NC State, Pitt, Rutgers, Vandy, Virginia) and an even better one coming out of Arizona Western C.C. (Florida, Texas, Oregon, WVU, Wisconsin). He came in 2013 and competed for the starting job, but a wrist injury that required surgery slowed his development and Stave won the job. Too athletic to keep off the field, though, McEvoy moved to safety for the final ten games of the season.

Simply, he has as much experience playing quarterback in college as Brandon Harris. No one really knows what to expect from either until they see some in-game competition.

One thing is certain: McEvoy brings a different element to the game than Stave. Whether that results in production remains to be seen, but Andersen and his staff have been vocal about wanting a dual-threat quarterback. The recruitment of Tanner McEvoy, D.J. Gillins, and Austin Kafentzis reflect that.

Never said it was happening. The OP said he expected 200 on the ground for Wisconsin, I responded that LSU expects that as well.

That being said, 200 is entirely possible and only ignorance would dismiss that.

I'm not one to make predictions, but there are variables to consider:

(1) Wisconsin returns four along an offensive front that is traditionally one of the best nationally.
(2) Wisconsin has two backs that many would argue are the two most physically-gifted backs the program has seen in Gordon and Clement, the former being one of the best this country has to offer.
(3) As many have acknowledged here, the one achilles heel in an otherwise strong LSU defense is up the middle. In 2013, Gurley provided 73 yards on 9 carries in less than two quarters before injuring himself and Yeldon rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns that season as well.

200 yards is entirely possible, but not definite.

While Wisconsin lost both games, neither team 'beat Wisconsin down.' Both games came down to the final play.

Wisc has a great run game. I wouldn't be surprised if they got close to the 200yd mark since it's game 1 of the season.
