Smart idea. Go grab a shite ton of the anti-poison stuff and find the Spider Shield in The Depths.

And if you haven't gotten it already, you will need the Iron Ring.

You can pick up the elite knight set in darkroot, close to the entrance to the moonlight butterfly. I'd recommend killing Havel and getting his ring, if you haven't.

Got havel's ring. He was a pussy.

I just beat the hydra. I saw that ladder beside the waterfall and went up.

So I need y'all to explain something to me. There's that area at the very top. It's like a big expansive woods area. Shrubs tend to try to gang up on me there so I have to go slow.

I thought I got them all, and as I was looking for the way to get back to the darkroot garden that I'm familiar with, some phantom knight guy starts trying to attack me. Was that pvp? I was hollow so I thought they weren't supposed to be able to get in my game. I beat the first knight, then a minute later some cleric type with a club and shield started casting some bolt spell at me. I got him and said fuk it and started looking for the way back to basin.

Then two people started attacking me. Wtf is that shite?

That is a pvp zone but no...you encountered npcs. There is a way to stop them from ambushing. Good luck!

Wait you got attacked at the end? Yeahhh someone possibly was wearing a special ring and got summoned...lol. forest is dangerous.

Is the way back to darkroot garden that I'm familiar with through the big sealed door next to the bonfire? Because I found what looked like the other side of it, but it wouldn't let me do anything.

Yeah. That door is sealed...need the key from Andre haha.

I think there's a shortcut thru the valley of the drakes around there. Would bring you back to the home bonfire.

Sens fortress is next for you . My favorite level.

I still haven't done blighttown. I found the way to valley of drakes from the basin. Thought about going that way since it was mentioned here

I miss a map, but it feels good to get to know everything just by traversing and find all the little shortcuts to places you cleared awhile back. Like the tower Havel was in leading you back to undead burg

Is there anything in that part of darkroot garden worth getting or should I just try to get my souls back and move on?

You can get Shiva's armor - the samurai looking knight. There is a boss that you have to eventually fight, but I wouldn't bother until you get done with Blighttown, Sen's and Anor Londo.

Also, I would recommend going through Blightown the 'right' way at least once to get the 'Shadow Set' and/or the Eagle Shield. The Shadow set is the best poison resist armor in the game. Though you'll still likely get poisoned a lot.

Also, with Blightown, as well as with most areas, know that some enemies don't respawn. So the first time you fight through is the worst. In Blightown its those bastard blow-dart frog things. They don't respawn once killed. After you kill all of them Blightown is really not that bad.

Sen's is a pushover. I wish it were longer and had more traps.
