im not sure the Iraqi army can be trusted after seeing them get their shite pushed in so far. The locals and women probably put up a legit fight though since their lives are on the line.
These won't be the ragtag units that got over run from other cities. Some of them are the PM's personal guard.

after the syria bitch slap, the admin was hesitant to commit to a military action. also you have to imagine they were worried they'd run into the exact PR/ideological issue they faced last week (claiming they were responsible for getting troops out a few years ago, and now blaming bush for agreeing to get out troops out too soon)
save the criticism for shite that's worthy of criticism

Lol. I hope they go after our embassy.
Lets take on 500 Marines who are specially trained in embassy protection

I'm thinking Obama needs to issue a new red line, then shite will stop

Just wait until Obama hears or reads about this in a month or so.
He will frick them up with a rebuttal hashtag ... "make no mistake."

There is no such thing as victory in a battle based upon beliefs and not strategic goals. We can't win anything in Iraq. Ever.

lol if you really think they stand a chance vs troops sent in to protect the embassy.
A chance at total success? Probably not. A chance to have multiple KIAs on the American side? Absolutely, but hey - lol right? I mean it is likely not your son, brother, husband, friend, etc. who will be coming home dead or maimed so go forth with your fricking lols and defending the frick up that is this person in the White house.

I should obviously expand on my OP since the usual bootlickers think it was just another slam Obama post. It wasn't
However, the choice of this Admin to arm and fund these idiots when they were trying to overthrow Urban Meyer..errr..I mean Asaad was obviously a piss poor one. And BTW, that's not just my opion. HIS OWN SECRETARY OF STATE JUST SAID THIS....

So Valarie Jarrett can issue another stand down order? How well did that work last time?

The French thought the same thing at Dien Bien Phu. Unless we have plans to relieve a siege, plans to hunker down are destined to fail. Do you really think that ISIS will be unable to adapt to battlefield conditions and find strategies and tactics to avoid or minimize the effectiveness of CAS? What are your fields of fire that will prevent ISIS from approaching to within danger close range for CAS? What happens if ISIS obtains a substantial MANPADS supply or limited SAM capability? (All it takes is one day's worth of ineffective CAS for them to get into the defensive perimeter.) How do you remove and replace any casualties?
Before I get hyped to go sending other men to the sound of the bugles, I want to know what is the outcome we seek, and what are we willing to commit to achieve it? We were willing to commit plenty to getting rid of Saddam Hussein, but we weren't willing to commit to installing a stable government to replace him. Are we willing to make that commitment now?

Also, Somalia, around 1991? Was supposed to be pretty quick, granted an offensive operation and not defensive.

ISIS will be history soon enough.

You're questions are valid ones. But ISIS simply doesn't have the skill necessary to take on what almost amounts to a battalion of US Marines that are guarding the embassy. There are carriers in the Gulf and I would imagine a Marine Expeditionary Unit standing by with another reinforced battalion. Not to mention the SOF forces working with local units in Baghdad and the second front with the Kurds in the north. I'm sure the troops at the embassy have cleared the necessary fields of fire and have a solid fire support plan in place.

yea, those psychopathic jihadists only had warm and fuzzy feelings for us before
Posted on 8/11/14 at 9:11 am to GeauxxxTigers23
They don't just have a few AK's and grenade launchers anymore guys. They have captured and are using a lot of the serious stuff we left over there because the Iraqi soldiers are such candy asses. Plus they are gaining control of resources where they can just go buy what they want.
