What sucks is they put the rides into tiers. For instance, at Hollywood you have to choose between Tower of Terror or Rockin Roller Coaster for tier one. At Epcot it's Soarin or Test Track. So get Fast pass for one then get there early to ride the other with a short wait.
Oh great. It sounds like they're effectively going back to the old ticket book system.
Back in the late 70s/early 80s you got a book of tickets. Rides were A, B, C, D, & E. The E rides were the really popular ones so the book only had 1 or 2 E tickets with the number of tickets for each level increasing as you worked your way down to A.
The net result was you could ride Space Mountain only once or twice but could ride the spinning tea cups all day long.

This.
I would really like to go back one day, but I wouldn't be able to ride any of the rides.

This isn't a price thing (yet). It's just about how you can pick fast passes which are a "convenience". And from what I remember about E-tickets, you could buy more.
I really miss the first days of extra magic hours. No one knew about it. It was limited to about 1000 people. And they only kept the good rides open, not the whole park. There was zero wait for anything. We rode space mountain about 10 times in a row running though the building after each ride to get back to the loading dock.

Mardi Gras is not the best time to go if its close to President's Day. Northeast area of country are off too.
Mardi Gras was crazy packed!

Thinking about Mardi Gras. Great time to go. It's slow and usually you'll beat the spring break crowds that filter over from Daytona or Cocoa Beach. It's a slow time there, then it picks up for spring break, slows down after that then picks up for the entire summer.
Unfortunately Mardi Gras falls on the same week as President's Day next year, so it'll be very busy the weekend before Mardi Gras through Tuesday. Lightens up a bite on Wednesday.

Best times to go are Sept/Oct and Jan(after the marathon)/Feb

You probably could. I just remember my parents saying "here's what you've got, now pick your rides".
I haven't been since they changed it, but we're taking my daughter next year and I've heard nothing but horror stories about the new system. It's been 10 years since I've been but the old fast pass system was the cat's meow.

1. Before you go, see a doctor and get a prescription for some Valium.
2. Bring a babysitter.
3. Quality over quantity: take your time, go slow and try to enjoy what you are doing, rather than just running around like crazy and riding as many rides and seeing as much shite as possible.

F Disney. I just turned down an offer to go. They are too expensive and Universal is too close to not go instead.

Break your wifes leg before you go.
She'll get a wheelchair and you'll go to the front of every line, or a green room with free McDonald's cheeseburgers/cokes/fries while you wait.

I could go next week and guarantee that we do the same stuff
Wanna bet? Fast Passes and dinner reservations would be nonexistent to the best places.

We went in January when the new system was just rolling out 100%. It was quite the cluster. Then you could only get 3 fast passes for the entire day and it had to be in one park. Once you were done you were done. They've made major changes to it just 5 months later. The one thing Disney isn't afraid of is changing shite on the fly. They're working out all the kinks I'm guessing, and by next year I bet you'll see a much more efficient system. With all the new stuff they keep adding you're either going to have to a fast pass type system or a 10 day trip to do everything. When they open Avatarland and Cars Land in a few years it will take a minimum of 7 days just to do everything once.

Take lines to the left
This especially when getting on the ferry. Right handed people tend to stay on the right side.

Do: Crop dust as much as possible.
Don't: Crop dust on the monorail (you'll regret it, unless you're into that).
Don't: Dry hump every Mickey statue.
Do: Take upskirt pics of the female cast.
Don't: Stand up and piss on Pirates of the Caribbean
Do: Stand up and piss on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Was it busy? Cold?
The temperature can be all over the place. 40 one day, 70 the next. But it's must more manageable than the 90-95 in the summer.
