They can handle this.
In the past 20 years, Honduran League games have regularly drawn +/- 15,000 at Tad Gormley when they have them. And that's with advertising ONLY on Spanish radio and in Spanish newspapers. Of course many Anglos wouldn't go because it's not United or whoever. But if you get even 1,000 anglos to an Olimpia match, that's an accomplishment. When you make it a full international, confederation tournament? You'll get a good crowd.

So either one set of quarters or the semis.

I'm going to be exceptionally pissed if I have to fork out good money to see the Mexico side of the quarters. I'll do it, out of principal - but I'll be pissed.

For reference in 2013, the quarters were in the Georgia Dome and M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore), the semis in AT&T Stadium. In 2011, the quarters were at RFK and MetLife, the semis at Reliant in Houston.

My gut feel says this is a bid for the semis.

one bad thing i think is that the areas with the most seats not under the overhangs are the sideline terraces

what would be behind the goals is mostly under club level overhangs, which i don't think soccer fans want

yes it's great that we finally want to enter the bidding for big-time soccer 20 years too late, but most stadiums aren't a 3 decked ring

now the city itself might be a positive, and the roof a positive

I think Tulane's new stadium would be the perfect venue for a small friendly or a few group stage games at the Gold Cup.

Oh, glass needs to host so he can try to furnish people with drinks and buy them off in hopes of finishing a little higher in the next "Best Soccer Board Poster" tournament.

No shame in finishing #2 last time, glass.

Bahaha. Did y'all have one last year or was that the one and only time?

Anyways, I think it would be ah-mazing if they hosted. I think having 5 American outlaws chapters in the state plus the countless other soccer fans would definitely fill the seats. I would do my part for sure as well as bring the oldest.

I have no idea. Any other ones don't count.

I would likely go if the US was playing. I'm probably not if it's two games involving non-US teams.

Anybody know the playing dimensions of the dome or Tulane? I fear they are insanely narrow just a gormely is, which takes away from the game IMO

The plaza level seats in the dome can be pushed back so I believe they can make it work
