Lafayette OTers ... Opinion on Laffy neighborhoods / suburbs

Assuming price is the same across the board, where would you rather raise your children ?
RR, Broussard, Youngsville ? There are so many subdivisions popping up all over that area - which ones are good ? Any thoughts on Island Oaks?

I'd go in that Twin Oaks area around ULL.
Broussard is for oilfield workers and unless you work out there, I wouldn't live out there or even go out there unless I wanted to go to the Station to catch a good music act.

I think all the Lafayette OT Ballers live in River Ranch.

i really like this neighborhood. there are a lot of new subdivisions popping up around there too. Crystal Cove, Ella Trace, The reserve (on tolson) and walker's village are some other ones to consider
there haven't been any houses built in the reserve but once they start it is going to fill up very quick.

Just raise them in Lafayette. Not like you're avoiding big city crime or schools by living in Broussard or Youngsvile. If you HAVE to go suburbs, go Youngsville.

South College close to Bendel

First off, would the kids go to public or private schools?

Lived in Youngsville for 5 years. Copperfield South.

If I ever move back to Lafayette (not likely), I'd move to River Ranch. It gets a lot of hate around here for several different reasons, but to me it is the only neighborhood in the city that actually feels like a "big city" neighborhood. It's pretty much the only neighborhood where you can walk to bars, restaurants, grocery stores, shops, live music (rhythms on the river), etc...
It doesn't just get hate here, though. There are a ton of haters around the Lafayette area, too. I think most of them are just jelly, but others prefer a small town feel, or even others prefer suburbs or country living.

There's a whole lot of options. Saints street, Carencro, youngsville, Broussard is somewhat okay, w bayou, river ranch, anywhere off Johnston in the city can be nice. Obviously avoid north and you're good.

American dream bro. Buy 5 acres of land in Youngsville and dont live in a subdivision. Build a pretty house and relish in the country life.

Broussard/ Youngsville area is the best place right now. With the AMB extension reaching All the way to HWY 90 now, this area will be booming soon. Plenty of nice neighborhoods to choose from

Broussard is a nice place. Not as overpriced as youngsville but it's getting there near the side that is close to youngsville.

This is a huge qualifier. If money were no option I'd be in river ranch, off of east bayou, or in fernwood. I think the ranch gets a lot of hate because it's so pricey. You're going to pay $220/sq.ft. or more, which is absurd.
Youngsville and Broussard are both growing so they are good options, but I'd stay away from the cookie cutter tract house subdivisions. I just bought a lot off of East Broussard road and will be building next year, fwiw...there are several very nice subdivisions back there. All in all, I'd say just stay south of the Vermillion unless you really want to be next to UL for some reason.

The neighborhood between South City/Duhon road and East Broussard. On the left of Johnston if heading south towards Maurice.
The houses in the front of the neighborhood are relatively nice, older homes. The back of the neighborhood there are really nice, newer houses.
It's a nice place because its not in the middle of Johnston traffic. Kind of "ducked off", though the area is building quick.
Schools are:
Elementary: Broadmoore
Middle: Edgar Martin
High School: Lafayette High

Depends on where you/so will work, what schools kids will attend and the type of hood you prefer.
