I pray for this place to go under so I (with other peoples money) can swoop in and buy that sucker. Potential gold mine.

It's not that the poboys are terrible or anything. Last time I had their roast beef it was decent. (shrimp are way too salty / overseasoned though). It's just that the kitchen is disgusting, the staff are arse holes, the regulars there are fricking douche bags, the beer selection is shite .. when they actually have a fully stocked bar, usually the fridge is half to mostly empty. Just not a good spot.

Yes, but have you asked about their drug selection?

It's first rate.

I'll put up some cash but I demand a free meal twice a week. For life. Just for me. I'm not gonna roll in with a ten top and expect it free.

I'm reasonable.

Just looked at their menu and most of their poboy's are $12.95 and under for a large which is not crazy. The exceptions are oysters and shrimp which are at all time highs right now. Shrimp is at $7-8/lb for larger peeled shrimp and oysters around $9-10/lb. depending on how much meat they put on their poboys they could have $7-8 cost in them. Multiply that by 3 (restaurant norm to make cover costs and make money) and it's in line with what they should be charging. Especially considering their location and cost of rent in that area.

All fine and good. The problem with that is several of their competitors have a superior-comparable product at a lower price point. Their fixed costs are their concerns, and where I choose to eat is mine.

I've never eaten at Mahoney's so I can't comment on their quality.

Just pointing out that their prices aren't as crazy as some on here make it out to be. Other places are probably working on lower margins. Mahoney's looks like they are a few dollars higher than most. Maybe I will have to try it just to see.

It's engrained in people's minds that poboys should he cheap which isn't the case anymore.

That's certainly true for some, but it's not me. I'll gladly pay a few bucks more for a superior product, but Mahoney's doesn't warrant that premium.

That's why I haven't tried it yet. Because most say this.

I prefer Guy's, parkway, R&O's, castanet in the east, and Arabi food store in da parish.

If I wasn't on a boat id be in here dropping knowledge. Chew on this though. OBrah likes a place called Sammich, similar pricing and a smaller product. I once got a poboy to go and the gave it to me in a hot dog box. R2R has never been to Parsol's and lives in the hood. Parsol's had a lock on the best RB for many years and he's never been. Automatic DQ from poboy opinions in my book. Not to mention he would never eat one for dinner.

Yeah, you should go back to fishing for perch. We're all good on $13 club sandwiches.

Sammich was my 3rd suggestion, and Parasol's WAS a great poboy shop.

That's $3 more than I paid last week. Are you factoring in an Uber ride ?

No, my fault was assuming you ordered the adult size portion. $12.95

My bad.

Guy's is the correct answer if you can get there while the damn place is open.

I've never eaten at R&O's and I've lived here a year. Am I allowed to have an opinion?

More proof you don't know what you are talking about. You could be drunk & stoned and not finish a large poboy there. It's the size of two from Sammich.
