Don't worry broke, I may try out the Primary Arms Advanced Red Dot. It's 169 with 50k battery life and 2 moa dot.

You heard wrong. People just have very "strong" opinions about their gear.

I will say, if you are going in on the Eotech, get it while the rebate is still going on. Buy it from a legit vendor as well as opposed to a parking lot (if you don't want to risk the rebate).

size profile and batteries.

xps takes cr123 batteries and i think 512 takes AA. not sure which ones last longer.

To further elaborate on what m2pro said...

The 512/xps series will have a lower profile than the Exps series. The lower profile will give you an "absolute" co-witness to your irons while the Exps will give you a lover 1/3 co-witness.

Coming in the clutch!

While Aimpoint, EOtech, and Trijicon are good choices for sights for an AR, they are not the ONLY sight options for an AR. Most people think they have to fit in a mold that everyone else has molded in terms of sights.

You can do whatever you want. This is America dammit!

I haven't. I've made the conscience decision to spend a shite ton more on batteries than you Aimpoint owners. Don't rub it in.

Up your game son. At least go Vortex or Primary Arms, or buy the scope from Burge.

I had a look at the Elcan Specter DR when I was at the shop and really liked how you had a 1x/4x combo where you just need to flip a switch and you have close, medium, and long range covered. I know it's a little heavy, I didn't know that damn thing costs like $2,000.

I appreciate all of the compliments.

Also, to whoever mentioned the Acog: I'd love to have one as I know they're great but I'd rather have one on a future, probably larger platform, for shooting at longer distances. For my first rifle I'm primarily concerned with close to medium range.

m2...it does, it does...an "absolute" co-witness. Everything lines up straight with that profile. The 512 would be represented on the left side of the above image

and to add to that, someone asked what is better?
from what I've read it's all preference based

some people prefer the lower 1/3 cowitness so that field of view isn't blocked as much by the iron sights

the thing is, if you've got a pop BUIS i think you'd be fine going with the 512 and absolute co-witness because if you were worried about your field of view just put your sight down, if you need it, put it back up... am i right on this?

If you have flip down BUIS, I prefer absolute co-witness, just for the better cheek weld.
