Where's a good Pacino gif when you need it? I left and this shite is still going? My lord people.
Agree on this point.
Look, I have no problem with a fun discussion. I have no problem with disagreement. What I do have a problem with is the continued oversimplication of arguments and the marginalizing of anyone who doesn't get excited at the sight of the new BvS trailer.
That's the only reason I would keep coming back in. If we're going to say there are two sides of this, just quit trying to oversimplify the other argument because every single one of you constantly get it wrong. Completely wrong. And it looks like having an understanding just isn't going to happen or you just don't want it to.
Two, this is the internet, it isn't all happy talk criticizing is ok. So maybe we need two types of DC threads whenever something pops up have a ""Rose-Colored Glasses" thread and the "Debbie Downer Thread" and everyone can be happy.
Three, it isn't cool to dislike Superman. I hope that people realize any comic fan who didn't like MoS is probably a little upset about that. They probably want to like it, but it just doesn't click that sucks. It sucked when it happened to Green Lantern. It sucked when it happened to Batman and Robin. It sucked when it happened to Blade 3 since 1 and 2 were so good. Oh and screw you Nicholas Cage, because it REALLY sucked when it happened to Ghost Rider. Granted MoS isn't on those levels, BUT his stature is much higher than Ghost Rider so a mediocre movie is a big blow to someone's Superman enjoyment.
Fourth, if you guys don't want Marvel talk in a thread, don't bring it up first. It happens almost every time. (This thread it's unavoidable though given the context.)
Fifth, 2 years. 2 STINKING YEARS! We have so much time before this thing is released. NO ONE, not even Abel the sage, can know how good this movie could be. Maybe it's the greatest film of all-time! Maybe everything works out perfectly. Maybe, just maybe, it's better than Superman The Movie.
Then again, maybe it's worse than a Quest for Peace. We need to keep a space for both arguments, separate threads or not, comment away, but let's just try not to convince anyone or read anyone's argument as anything other than opinion and conjecture, because that's all most of this talk is.

This will be the key.
Remember, in the Smallville battle, the Krypton-tech armor stood up to some of Kal's best shots.
In MOS, Kal took out the scout ship and it crashed in the 3rd act. Once the Kal vs. Zod fight starts, you don't see it again.
You have to figure that the US Military was all over that fricking thing the second the dust settled, and likely have their "top men" on it (Luthor and Wayne). I expect the Bat-armor will incorporate some of this.

Also if you look at the size of Metropolis while they are fighting you notice that the city is the size of like every major US city combined. When I saw it in theaters I was actually paying more attention to that than the actual fighting. So what the audience sees being destroyed is a very small portion of the city. That's the Metropolis, we deserves; the Metropolis we need.

The tone, the suit, the armor, if they use these things I'm fine with that. Most of the plot points will not be present, I promise you:

Great. And Heath Ledger read Killing Joke in order to learn how to play the Joker. That said, they didn't use the Killing Joke plot. Just as they will not use a plot about what happens during a nuclear freakin winter for the new Superman-Batman film. Nor should they. That would be insane.

According to DC, Metropolis is in Delaware. That would make it half the size of the state.

Agreed.

No problem with bringing in Marvel discussion, but their TV/film strategy isn't prefect. DC, IDW, Image, Skybound, Valiant, Dynamite or even 2000 AD doesn't have to do it "the Marvel way." Before 2008 the properties of Marvel were so scattered that they didn't even have a film continuity. Hell in the early 2000s I was thinking about buying a few for myself.

ETA2: I'll be back in a little while so, hold all questions directed towards me till I return. I'm in the middle of The Deerslayer and I feel like I'm neglecting the side of my mind that allows me to enjoy literature.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has received a release date of July 28, 2017. Not that anyone cares because it's not bitching about Batman and Supes.
