Best reply I have read on the Rant to date.

I love Les but personally think this was kind of silly. It should be a bit beneath him to let someone in the media, especially this guy, affect him. Feels to me kind of like McElroy won ultimately. That's just my opinion though.
He's responded to the media before like this, I.E. russell shepard nonsense

you could have given me two weeks to come up with a paragraph that fully incapsulates the term winning, and it wouldn't come to close to the bomb that Les dropped, on camera...no script.

What most people don't get is this.
That quote is like poetry.
It goes far beyond McELroy.
It holds valuable lessons in the following arena
:
Hard Work does not transfer from person to person.
Legacies are built; not handed down.
It also tells someone; if you may want to achieve, that if you want something great, you have to work for it, because you won't get it simply by association. Think of a family business. It is not successful because of the Name, it is successful because of the work done by the people on the job. Think 'Horrible Bosses.'
That quote is much bigger then the sport of football.
It wasn't an attack, more of a direct form of educating and informing.
It's like a poem, the more you read the words, the more layers of that truth start to come out.
I'll say again, you could have given me two weeks to come up with a paragraph that fully incapsulates the term winning, and it wouldn't come to close to the bomb that Les dropped, on camera...no script.

I don't get all the replies you see on the youtube post, or the comments people make in general saying that he did it with Saban's players.
Did Muschamp find success with Urban Meyer's players? Did Urban leave a "winning" tradition at Florida? No. All Urban left was a fanbase's expectation that winning will and should continue. But Florida soon found out that it takes more than expectation to win.
Les is spot on. Winning comes with those who work hard, never let down, and have all the inherit qualities that comprise a 'winner'. After the winner leaves, he doesn't leave or deposit winning/success for the next guy to take advantage of....the next guy has to come in and put his own work in and create his own success.

I know McElroy is a young guy, but its hard for me to believe that anyone with IQ above 90 wouldn't know what you stated was the truth in all sports.
There are examples after examples of college sports programs dropping off after a coach who lead their schools to excellence leaves for whatever reason. Nothing remains excellent anywhere without excellent leadership keeping it in place.
The idea that Nick has anything to do with what goes on with LSU football almost a decade after he kissed us off is sports retardation at its finest and not something I would expect from a guy who is supposedly intelligent.

He was just stirring the pot. Why do you think ESPN has hired Finebaum? Because he knows football? lol

The ESPN boys got to McElroy first and tainted his better judgment about Miles. Im not sure McElroy thinks that way anymore.

This needs to be reposted in every page of this thread and repeated in all conversations on the subject. Spot on!!! Sadly I don't most fully grasp or recognize it.

If Les wants to really tell them frick you, he has to do it on the field. I would love to see it happen.

The Shepard defense was a spur of the moment emotional explosion. This was a cold calculated slap across the cheeks.
I almost believe someone at ESPN was in on it because immediately after the interview they posted a graphic that LSU under Miles had the second most wins in the NCAA in an AQ conference school. LSU had 95 and tOSU had 96. That graphic made the whole subject of Sabans influence on LSU's winning ways even more stupid...

He didn't tell "them" anything. He told McElroy. This isn't about beating Bama and, if you think it is, you're way off base. And, Les wasn't just talking about him v Saban. He was talking about his teams over the years.
