I wouldn't be surprised at all if morgan were cut

Does Tim Flanders count as a dark horse? You know how Payton loves using his small school RBs.

I would consider him one. Him and Derrick Stozier. They would have to beat out Cadet though.
I thought Cadet might be in jeopardy if we drafted someone like Dri Archer, but I think he's pretty safe as of now.

I don't think he's buried on the depth chart
He's our Shane Vereen now.
No one else really fills that role.

The only way he could be an impact guy who is worth a spot is if he stands out in KR game.

More likely than Cadet IMO. This was a 1 year, show me or blow me deal for Morgan.

Cadet isn't getting cut. Payton's already said how much more of the playbook he's taking on and that while he doesn't expect to just plug him into what Sproles did for us, he does expect to do a lot of the same things.
Dark Horse: Toon. I don't think anyone gives him much of a chance but I think he'll contend for even that 4th WR spot over Morgan, who I like.
Surprise cut: Kevin Reddick..? With all the new LB'rs signed I see some heated competition there. He could be a casualty if say Fortt shows out.

What does Shanle have to do with Sunseri?

Agreed. I think it's a foregone conclusion that either Morgan or Toon is cut. I'd keep Meachem over either.

Hawthorne would save $2m on the cap this year and $2.5m next year. That's not insignificant.
The question then becomes do we have a replacement for him and I think it's possible we could. Between Humber, Haralson, and all the young guys someone could be poised to take his spot.
That's not to say it will happen, but it's definitely possible. He played 70% of the snaps last year, and while that's not insignificant it also doesn't come close to the 96% Lofton played. Haralson played 37% of the snaps and with Butler back he could see more time as an ILB.
