Went to go see it yesterday. Really good movie. I hope they come out with another movie to follow this one.

Really didn't like it. Couldn't empathize with the apes and thought the movie was cliche as hell.
Agreed. I felt like the movie was jack of all trades, master of none. An 8 year old could have told you the plot before it happened.

Simple question
I saw the 2:45 showing of planet of the apes and when I came out there was a large collection of people lines up at the elmwood theater. Do you think that is for planet of the apes?
It was 5:15 next showing was two hours away.

hey attempted a shift in personality that takes years
Hell you could make the argument it did take years since it started from past experineces with the humans. Once he went through with his plan that involved killing Ceasar (he believed he did), it would not be far fetched to say that he would try to kill other apes whose views didn't align with his.

Saw this last night. Really enjoyed it. This was way better than Rise IMO. Especially for the emotion the apes were able to convey for CGI characters. Serkis did amazing as did the guy who did Koba.

Watched it today.
Solid movie. Was intrigued on how Caesar was gonna be against humans at the end.
But all in all, unbelievable visuals. I forgot that apes were not actors...but I had times that I was bored. It was really was more of a drama than action flick. Which is fine. Just know that before you go with 3D

After all the positive reviews I left the theater greatly disappointed.
Very thin plot. Extreme lack of moralizing, politicizing, and philosophizing. Not global enough in scope. Not definitive enough in ape/mankind resolution. Didn't advance the ape/mankind relationship question as far along as I had expected. This turned out to be little more than a monkey fight movie.
Then there was one scene that really bugged me in particular.... where Malcolm is in the building rummaging for medical supplies to help Caesar, and out of all those apes marauding the place wasn't it mighty coincidental and convenient which of those was the only one to see him?

Director Matt Reeves Explains Why The Post-Credits Scene Of ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Was Cut At The Last Minute
And the audio that we did hear at the very end...
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Post-Credits Stinger Explained - This could provide an interesting dilemma in the final installment
quote:
Director Matt Reeves discusses the post-credit scene and why he chose to cut it. The movie proper ended with the final heartbreaking scene between Malcolm and Caesar, which set the stage for the upcoming war. But the post-credit sequence would have actually depicted the start of the war, with military forces arriving in San Francisco.
And the audio that we did hear at the very end...
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Post-Credits Stinger Explained - This could provide an interesting dilemma in the final installment
quote:
Right at the very end of the credits we are given a somewhat post-credits stinger that may be surprising to hear. While there is no video footage that appears in the credits, there is plenty of audio content to keep us intrigued. The sounds we hear some to come from inside the bottom of the tower because the wind makes the area seem hollow. The shifting of rubble and rock surrounds us all while the wind continues to blow, and we can hear the whimpering of an animal that sounds in pain. The wheezing of breath begins and continues until the credits end and the sounds cease.

It's pretty laughable that the director expected anybody to sit through the longest, most cryptic credits in the history of movies.

Koba was a fricking G. Loved the movie.

I thought it was hilarious that Gary Oldman blew himself up for no reason.
Posted on 7/20/14 at 8:51 pm to The_Joker
He did it for his people. It did end up contributing to killing Koba.

I realize his intent but it just shook the building for a bit and knocked some cranes down. If he had watched from a distance he would've been severely disappointed

Probably the only real complaint I have about it. He was a great character despite him not being in the film a lot. His sacrifice needed to be more effective, give some of the line he had some kick. He didn't accomplish shite
