If you seriously don't understand the need for a funded recreational lobby in the wake of all this federal red snapper bullshite then there's nothing anyone here is going to be able to say that will convince you. Educate yourself a little instead of blindly bitching about the big bad CCA taking your money that you don't even have to pay them.

Oh, you're trolling. My radar is always bad on the OB since it's usually not as bad. Keep on running.

We all catch more fish bc of their actions years ago, and they continue to fight on the red snapper front. It hasn't yet yielded results, but it will. Plus the commercials frequently attack the current laws, so we need them to keep up the fight obo recreational fishermen.

I've heard some complaints that they just exist to funds jobs for the staff, but I'm satisfied with them. It's only $25 plus $30 for the STAR, nbd.

if you catch one of ten tagged fish

Wrong again dumbass......50 tagged fish, they pay out a max of 10.

Do you even realize there are more prizes in this tournament than just the tagged redfish category? So are people fishing for trophy speckled trout, red snapper, cobia, dolphin, and flounder just throwing money into the slots? If so I guess all fishing tournaments are full of lottery chasing idiots.

Your anger over their failure to take up your right to trespass on private property is silly. Perhaps you could start your own organization to promote trespassing, Poachers Unlimited.

not going to deny that the gcca had a big influence on getting the gill net bans back in the early 90s. the commercial fishery is dead. they will never be a threat inshore in the next 50 years. simply too much start off costs and none of them are in it anymore.

so what are they doing now? how much of that money goes to helping recreational fishing today?

If the CCA had their way everything in the water would be a game fish. There would be no trawling, longlining, etc.

frick them

I can't read the link for you, but something tells me you're not much of a reader anyway.

FWIW, I caught a tagged redfish a few years ago 4 days outside the tournament. I wasn't registered and was still pissed even though it was over. I piss on $25 it costs me to enter

they might give away 80 grand in prizes a year

I'll assume this is either a troll or you're really mad for no given reason but just the four boats given away for the Speckled Trout divisions(three Nautic Star 1810's and one 2110) surpass that $80k mark. Just briefly looking over the list the other prizes, excluding any tagged redfish, exceed another $50k.
