What amercian players have made an impact in European leagues?

other than goalies? Have any been long term starters in the leagues such as the Premier League or the top level German, Italian or Spanish leagues? How much success, if any, have Donovan, Dempsey, and Altidore had in Europe? I saw that Julien Green plays for the top German club, even if he doesn't start at 18, it would seem he is the brightest star in the making among American players as of right now.

Dempsey scored a bunch of goals at Fulham. Brian McBride spent a ton of time and scored goals for Fulham, they love him there. Steve Cherundolo was nicknamed the Mayor of Hannover.
Claudio Reyna had a long European career. Altidore scored a bunch in Holland. Johannsson is scoring in Holland.
I don't know, plenty of players have. Bradley at Gladbach, in Norway, Roma

Clint Dempsey was a top Premier League player in some of his seasons at Fulham.

Dempsey was voted best XI one year in the EPL for Fulham. Brian McBride and Bocanegra both played in over 100 games for Fulham. Jozy set the scoring record for an American in Europe last year for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch league. Donovan had two good loan spells with Everton. Cameron is a consistent starter with Stoke. Johannsson is the AZ's best scorer probably.

Anyone know what Rosenborg thinks of Mix?

I looked at that site and it doesn't clarify it for me. Could someone list the 5 most established USA players in the highest level European leagues who are considered to be talented assests to their teams by the fan base of those teams (other than goalies who we seem to have no trouble producing)? Are there any? Didn't Altidore have a terrible season for Sunderland, a mid tier team in the premier league, and maybe the fan base consider him a weak link. I know we have some young up and comers, or at least one in Julien Green, playing second team for one of the best teams in Europe at 18 years old.

Geoff Cameron - Stoke
Alejandro Bedoya - Nantes
Aron Johannson - AZ Alkmarr
Fabian Johnson - just earned himself a transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach from Hoffenheim
Mix Diskerud - Rosenborg
In no order.
Also, Jermaine Jones was an important part of Schalke for a long time. Dempsey was loved at Fulham. Michael Bradley was loved at Roma as was Jozy at AZ....etc.

All Time (not including goalkeepers and players raised in Europe)
Clint Dempsey, Fulham. One of the greatest players they have ever had. Was a star for them in their finest season, when they almost won the Europa League (NIT equivalent). Also 1 year in London for Tottenham
Brian McBride, Fulham. Another star for Fulham, playing 4 seasons for them.
Claudio Reyna. Captain for Rangers, starter and top player for Sunderland, Wolfsburg, and Manchester City.
Michael Bradley. Starter and top player for Chievo. Rotation player at Roma. Second leading scorer in the Dutch League for Hereneven. Starter for Borussia Monchengladbach.
Steve Cherundolo. Spent his entire career at Hannover. Played 16 years, started 12 years, was captain for 4 (I believe). Probably one of their top 5 players of all time.

The fans are dumb asses.
Sunderland is shite and it has nothing to do with Jozy.

Jon OBrien was at Ajax right? Then he had injuries and derailed the career.
Some believe him to be the best American ever.

Fabian Johnson and Geoff Cameron are the only ones right now in 4 biggest league that I think the club's fan would be that high on.
Brooks for Hertha and Chandler just moved to Eintract. These are pretty decent Bundesliga sides but probably not yet players their fans would classify as vital.
Dempsey at Fulham before his move to Spurs and then MLS would have certainly been and also Bradley at Chievo and maybe AS Roma in Serie A and Jones at Shalke before their recent moves.
Bedoya in the habitually underrated Ligue 1 is a fixture for his club.

O'Brien is kind of like Holden. He had one outstanding year and then kept getting injured. It's really unfortunate, and I feel terrible for the guy, but I wouldn't even put him on the list of the top 10 American outfield players
Dempsey, Donovan, Beasley, Bradley, Reyna, McBride, Ramos, Cherundolo, Harkes, and Lalas have all done more in their careers, and I know I'm forgetting others.
Sacha Kljestan, who rarely factors in for the US, has been a starter for Anderlecht for the past 4 years. That should answer questions about our player pool, right there.

Not in the top league, but Tim Ream for Bolton, was names player of the year.
Stu Holden won it the year before.
Geoff Cameron is the most established outfield player in the BPL.
Sacha Kljestan plays for Anderlecht in the Belgium League. His team won third straight league Belgian Pro League title this year. He constantly has to fight to get his starting position back. Usually starts though.
Mix Diskerud plays for Norwegian giants Rosenborg. I don't really keep up with them, but it seems like he is a sub on the team.
Aron Johannsson plays for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch League. He scored 17 league goals, and Stokes are reportedly looking at him. He plays in the same league that Altidore tore up while there, so it's hard to tell how he will do with a switch to a harder league.
Bedoya plays for French League 1 team Nantes. He does well for them, but he's not their main guy.

Bocanegra did well at Fulham and Rangers. So shitty that he's at Chivas USA. Hopefully he can get to somewhere else in MLS before he retires. Edu did well at Rangers as well.
Gooch spent time at Newcastle, AC Milan, Malaga.
Really right now we're in a transition period where our older players' best days are behind them and they're back in MLS for the most part, and most players younger than them, haven't really reached their prime yet.

I can find it but there's a quote where they say OBrien is best US player. He was probably biggest reason US made the Qtrs. That to me is a statement on his ability.
I understand what you are getting at though.

He may have been one of the top 3 players in 2002, for sure. But I'd argue that we had great performances from 6 guys that tournament (Friedel, Donovan, Beasley, Mastroeni, Sanneh, and O'Brien). Pope was damn good, too.

Ill defer to you on this one. I am just remembering him being so dominant in the Midfield controlling everything.
Maybe my memory is wrong. I do not claim to be an expert. I can carry a semi intelligent soccer convo.
