He doesn't make shitty movies, he just doesn't make critically acclaimed ones for you most of the time. He's said that he basically makes movies for teenage boys (action, explosions, etc.). And that's exactly what he does, and he does it well.

I loved transformers and tmnt but I won't be seeing either movie. I'll probably torrent them once they are out on DVD.

Well Nazi's killed people.

JJ Abrams killed the lens flare.

Coincidence?

I can respect him doing well for a certain age group.

For me if I desire for an sci if action flick I'll watch but it is nothing more than that

Did anyone see the movie?

I at the preview of it where the flying thing seemingly goes out of its way to blow up the two ends of the drawbridge. Was wondering if anyone can tell me why that happened besides "Michael Bay."

They didn't. They were being shot at and the shooters missed and hit the bridge.

Ah, so it was still over the top. Gotta love that guy.

ETA: I just picture them thinking up this scene like so: OK, so we have the usual chase scene with missiles misfiring and blowing things up. "Hey, let's have them go under a bridge and a missile takes it out." "Even better, let's make it a DRAWBRIDGE that's up and use TWO missiles!"

I heard that Michael Bay once made a movie that didn't have a single scene of a line of several black SUVs traveling bumper to bumper at a high rate of speed.

Can someone confirm this?

The fact he got the Criterion Collection to release a version of The Rock shows, yes, he does care about his critical rep. Pain and Gain was also an obvious attempt at serious critical respectability.

He's only human, of course he cares about how his peers view him. Of course, he then takes his mind off of it by taking his swim in a vault full of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck.

No we're not, Michael. We of the MTV Board refuse to support your overstuffed, FX driven flicks, meant only to appeal to the lazy masses. Suck on that as you drive your Lamborghini back to your house made of cash and filled with porn stars.

I'm not either, but somehow Michael Bay will still be worth a couple hundred million give or take. I have a feeling he'll get over it.

You think Bad Boys is terrible? The Rock? Armageddon? Every one of the Transformers movies?

If so, you're in the vast minority.

Mike, I support you 100%. You make awesomely entertaining movies and I am grateful for that. We need directors of mindless entertainment as much as we need Christopher Nolans and those kinds of directors.
