Flipping channels and see Montreal is about to lose a game against Calgary and they have ONE point.
How the hell did they do that?

Isn't there a guy from BR who plays in the CFL? I never did understand their rules.

Their safeties are only worth one point?
I'm just assuming.

If you punt/kick the ball into the end zone and the opposing team doesn't return it out, it's a point.

quote:
In Canadian football, a single (single point, or rouge), scoring one point, is awarded when the ball is kicked into the end zone by any legal means, other than a successful field goal, and the receiving team does not return, or kick, the ball out of its end zone. It is also a single if the kick travels through the end zone or goes out of bounds in the end zone without being touched, except on a kickoff. After conceding a single, the receiving team is awarded possession of the ball at the 35-yard line of its own end of the field.

shite, they scored a TD with no time left to prevent the one point final score.

Single (rouge) Scored when the ball becomes dead in the possession of a team in its own goal area, or when the ball touches or crosses the dead-line, or side-line-in-goal, and touches the ground, a player, or some object beyond these lines as a result of the ball having been kicked from the field of play into the goal area by the scoring team. It is worth one point. This is different from a Safety (see above) in that team scored against receives possession of the ball after the score. Officially, the single is called a rouge (French for "red") but is often referred to as a single. The exact derivation of the term is unknown, but it has been thought that in early Canadian football, the scoring of a single was signalled with a red flag.

think about why the endzones are 20 yards deep and the goalposts are on the goal line...

..as is tradition.
So I'm not the only one that switched over to watch You Don't Know Bo & saw this.

Seems like an interesting rule. I like it.

Roger Goodell would ruin the CFL, too.

rouge
Here's a wild ending that involved a team trying to win the game with a rouge. It involved former Auburn kicker Damon Duval. Marc Trestman (current Bears coach) was the coach for the Alouettes.
