BAMD790 is Business Analytics this summer.
Is it a seminar class ? As a student, do we need to give a seminar presentation ? This topics seems to be interesting.
But, not clear about classwork.
Also how does it appear on transcript finally ? Will it display as Business Analytics or Graduate Seminar ?
Please let us know if you have done BAMD790 before.

BADM 790 will be just like any other class. I took it this past fall (it was supply chain management back then). It'll count as an elective on the transcript.

Hi All: Thanks for all the good info in this thread - I'm glad I found it. I'm taking my first course in the program. I'm still figuring out some of the admin aspects of it. How quickly do you need to register in order to get the courses you want? It seems to me there are only a few offerings left for summer AP1. I'm wondering if that's typical. I learned there are about 1400 of us enrolled and it seems only 7 courses are offered per session. Thanks.

In Summer AP2 I have to take my last 2 electives to finish the program
My options at that time are MADM 720
FIN 710 or
BADM 790
Which 2 would you take if given the choice? and any insight on these classes would be helpful. Hope everyone is still going strong at the midpoint of this session.

Hi lsusports, would you say that BADM 790 was a tough class? I am in between in electives.

BADM 790 was tough for me because I knew absolutely nothing about the subject. It was the teachers first time teaching it and she was doing a lot of trial and error.
The good news is that there probably won't be many students in there because it's an elective and most students are scared to take it because of the unknown, and it's a new professor.
I had Carol Ptak teach my class. I don't know if she is teaching anymore BADM 790 classes or not. She was tough, but fair.
We had: 3 books that had to be read front to back (the first book was 360 pages and had a quiz on it for the first week), 2 forum posts a week (one responding to a question, the other responding to a classmates question), a weekly quiz with multiple answers (if you chose one wrong, you missed the entire question, if you only chose 2 of the correct and left another correct answer out you got partial credit), 2 case studies (2 pages typed), a paper on one of the other books, a 10 minute presentation where you had to record yourself using a PPT or another medium, and a comprehensive final.
I took this class along with MADM 701 so it was a rough semester for me.

Anybody here taken MADM 752 with Tami Knotts? I heard it was an easier elective but i thought it was going to be taught by Meeks. I haven't heard anything about Knotts as an instructor.

Meeks was 751 and Knotts was 752 for me. Yes, both relatively easy, but loads of busywork.

New student, I heard that Marketing 701 was an overkill. I heard that the course material was going to be reduced. Has anyone taken this course??

I took it fall AP2 with Karen James. 2 long papers, weekly tests and a handful of discussion requirements. She cut it it down from how she did it in previous courses with us.
Fin 701 is 4 tests only.

I haven't taken ACCT701 yet but I had FIN701 last session and doubling MADM 715 w/Wren now with FIN730. None of the three have a whole lot of busy work but FIN701 and MADM715 cover a lot of material. For 715 we are also required to do a virtual presentation for the Business Student Research Forum. I am managing A's in both but it is taking all of my free time and them some. While you can get by in FIN701 without reading the chapters, I wouldn't recommend it... and the problems are time consuming. You won't pass MADM 715 without reading the chapters. I really couldn't imagine adding a 3rd class.... even with ACCT being my undergrad.
But if you have to take 3 at once and willing to suffer for 7 weeks, imo that's probably the 3 with least amount of busy work.

This class was super easy and I'd pair it up with another class but not 2 classes. That is unless, as others have said, you don't work full time or don't plan on getting much sleep for 7 weeks.
