you're assuming that the .gov emails were used. I'm willing to bet she was using some other email address (which is referred to somewhere in her emails).

I wonder if the hard drive was trashed to get rid of evidence of other email addresses...

Yep, This was bigger than the White House directing the IRS to their Political enemies, it will probably show a lot of Dem Senators and Reps were directing to target local groups that were raising money against them. This thing looks to have been big, and why they had to dismantle every trace...

So the question is, what traces might remain. A thread might all that is needed to unravel it...

Even worse the "crash" happened 10 days after the house ways and means chair sent Lerner a letter asking about the issue.

As to Ms. Lerner's behavior, consider that House Ways & Means Chairman Dave Camp first sent a letter asking if the IRS was engaged in targeting in June, 2011. Ms. Lerner denied it. She engineered a plant in an audience at a tax conference in May 2013 to drop the bombshell news about targeting (maybe hoping nobody would notice?). She has subsequently asserted a Fifth Amendment right to silence in front of the only people actually investigating the affair, Congress. Now we learn that her hard drive supposedly defied modernity and suffered total annihilation about 10 days after the Camp letter arrived.

Not really feasible. They'd have to know who was on the other end of e-mails relevant to the investigation. That's what they were wanting to find out by obtaining her e-mails.

God forbid I ever get audited by the IRS, but if I do, I'm pleading the 5th and saying all my hard drives on my PC's through the years all crashed.

When I was younger I worked in dc with a couple dudes who are big into foreign relations think-tank type shite and international law. They used to ghost-write shite for politicians and DOJ (Bush era). They definitely used to send it to the "authors" wives' private e-mail addresses and shite. If people did that for mere speeches and OP-eds, imagine the lengths people go to to hide actual corruption.

That is assuming that the corrupted ones at the IRS are not morons.

The EPA was 'smart' enough to use email alts. Maybe thats why the hard drive crashed. The alt is a little harder to find. Bunch of corrupt assholes. People need to go to prison. Sure as shite private citizens would if they pulled the same bullshite.

I'm really torn between nothing happens, and some young buck reporter finds a small glimmer and stays on it.

I'd give money right now to forensic detectives if there was a fund for this.

I could start a 501(c)4.

That being said, a large percentage of these local groups didn't even need to file with the IRS. A comedy of errors all the way around.
