Then there's Seth, "A well-educated criminal with grand ambitions and a knack for chemistry, this potentially recurring character gains power over his enemies by exposing them to a drug that drains their willpower." He's also "very much a physical match for the Arrow." This one doesn't ring any bells, but it could just be a re-purposing of an existing DC villain.

i would think its someone more than another iteration of count vertigo

quote:

Perhaps most pressing is the question of which villainous threat Oliver Queen will face this coming season, which picks up six or seven months after the season-two finale. Crime is down and the police aren’t hunting Ollie—but peace never lasts that long in Starling City. Despite last season’s startlingly sinister Slade, this year’s villain will have to up the ante even more.
“Slade had a very specific agenda—he was out for revenge and had set up this elaborate five-year plot,” Kreisberg tells EW. “What’s interesting about the villain in season three is that he doesn’t necessarily disagree with [Oliver]. He doesn’t have any personal animus towards the Arrow, and he actually in some ways has a very similar worldview. [But] the Arrow is thinking too small.”

Kreisberg continued: “In some ways, as Oliver is struggling with whether or not he can be the Arrow and Oliver at the same time, the villain of season 3 is saying, ‘Being Oliver Queen is what’s holding you back from fulfilling your true destiny.’ So it’s a very interesting dynamic, but it is tied in the same way that Oliver last year was wrestling with, ‘Am I a hero or a killer?’ The theme of identity is tied up very much in how the villain is presented to Oliver.”
Kriesberg teases that the casting of this year’s Big Bad—one speculative fan theory suggests it’s Ra’s al Ghul—will happen “soon.” Certainly iconic baddie al Ghul would fit the bill for Kreisberg’s description of what Ollie will face in the coming year.

I can imagine how epic it would be if this turned out to be true.

I think all signs point to him. We won't see him for awhile though, if it is him.

How many episodes have they shot so far?

If that isn't shopped, I would be pissed if I was Ollie and my sidekick had a cooler costume than me.

Here is another interview that Kreisberg did a couple of days ago where he goes into a little more depth about this upcoming season: LINK

So Sara will be around for at least 3 episodes, and Nyssa will probably show up. Also looks like even though Ronnie Raymond will be mainly a Flash character, he'll get introduced in the Arrow flashbacks.

Here is another link that states that Slade will also show up at some point this season: LINK

quote:

Kreisberg tells the sources that Slade was out for revenge and was very patient in making everything happen which he has planned for five years. He will still be in the next season however, Slade is not necessarily against Arrow. In fact, he thinks that they are quite similar in some ways but Arrow is not so open-minded about any possibility of uniting with Slade.

I wonder if Slade will do time with the Suicide Squad?

Wildcat joins Arrow

quote:

We had heard recently that Wildcat / Ted Grant would be making an appearance in the third season of Arrow. Most likely working with Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) as she work her way toward being Black Canary. The character of Wildcat is an ex-boxer who is often shown training other heroes how to fight in the comics. Now Deadline is reporting that actor (Emily Richards, MD) will be taking the role in his return to the CW. Ramirez also appeared in Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and the final season of 24

So this is how Laurel gets her training and maybe love interest.

At first glance, I don't really like that they cast J.R. Ramirez as Wildcat. Wildcat was an older guy in the comics, but Ramirez is fairly young look guy. And yeah, I know that they don't always stay that close to the comics when creating their characters. And they haven't bombed a casting chance yet, but this one I'm a little concerned with.

Also, I wonder when they'll announce who'll be playing Ra's al Ghul.

Ramirez is older and grizzled... for the CW anyway.

I just hope that they write him as a boxer. He won't be an ex-heavyweight champ, that's for sure.

Concur.

I realize they are probably updating his fighting style from boxing to MMA, but someone like John C McGinley would have the physique and is a low enough profile they might have been able to get him. That being said I don't know how well he could play a more serious role.

How old is Randall "Tex" Cobb these days? He was boxer when he was younger.

I think he'll have to be something other than just a boxer if he is going to train Laurel to be able to fight like she'll need to when she takes over the Black Canary mantel.

I'd like to see him be an ex-MMA fighter or something, since MMA encompasses more fighting techniques than just boxing.

The Hollywood Reporter brings word this afternoon of yet another hero joining the ranks of The CW’s “Arrow” for its third season as David Cubitt (“Medium”) has been cast in the role of Mark Shaw, aka Manhunter. Cubitt will debut as Shaw in the third episode of the upcoming season as “an A.R.G.U.S. operative in Corto Maltese who crosses paths with Diggle.”

How many DC Characters have the name "Manhunter" besides J'onn J'onzz?

J'onn J'onzz is the Martian Manhunter.

The Manhunter is a totally different character. The Manhunter mantel has been worn by several different people over the years. Kate Spencer worn the mantel for awhile, and she was the DA that one of Slade's solders killed in front of Blood in the 2nd to last episode this past season.

Oh, and also don't confuse it with the manhunters that the Green Lanterns are always having to fight either. So yeah, there are a ton of "manhunters" in the DC universe.

idk what thread to bump anymore since there are about 5 arrow threads, but the felicity backstory episode is no longer being called "Oracle." instead it is being called "the secret origin of felicity smoak."

kind of disappointing but i guess it was too tied into the batman mythos is my guess.
