All I'm saying is that IF this offer wasn't based strictly off of the kid and his abilities on the field, that it would be unfair to the kid in the the case that he may be asked to grayshirt(and I'm not assuming anything but its possible IF its a ploy for lodge) and it would be even more unfair if it took a scholarship from an in-state that may have been more deserving of it.

Would you be made if it was both? IMO, this guy has enough potential to play D1. He's playing at the highest class in Texas, so his numbers are against top competition. He's the QB of a top 3 WR in Lodge. We also lost two QBs and could "possibly" lose another after the 2014 season. He can come in and learn from the best. I think at least he'll be quality depth.

Seems like a good get to me. Also, we have a pretty good amount of room in this class.

I agree. Just kind of caught me by surprise, but if there's somebody that can turn this kid into a contributor, it's the quarterback whisperer that we have at OC.

I am one of the ones after watching Lodge's highlights, said, let's go get that quarterback. I am glad that he committed. Welcome aboard Justin. And for all you experts who think that you know more about judging talent than our coaches. You can kiss the baby. And this is not directed towards the previous poster. I just posted on the thread. This kid has touch and pocket awareness coming out his arse. He is a take, Lodge or not.

I don't think last years ( passing game ) offense fit Rivers skill set either.

Then why didn't he transfer before the season? You keep trying to back track on your stupid logic and it just makes you contradict yourself.

Maybe he knew it would benefit him to graduate early and not lose the year. That's not a "stupid logic". Actually very logical!

which is what I thought. For a kid that's in the spotlight like him, I'm surprised more haven't offered.

I bet he gets quite a few more looks now.

Do you feel that his skill set fits what Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, Houston and Texas Tech are looking for?

I agree this will open the door for more looks. That's what makes his decision to commit very smart on his part.

Im shocked TCU wasn't all over this kid.

I think he ends up with quite a few more offers, along the lines of what happened to Harris last year. The more I watch him the more he looks like just a shorter version of BH swimming past guys in the pocket and making the throw on the run. If his throwing motion weren't so raw and he were a couple inches taller, I think he'd already have the offers.

Looks to me like he executes the read option quite well.

When Cam recruited Antwaan Randle El to Indiana the ONLY school that wanted him to play quarterback was Ohio University. He became a first-team All-American and one of the best players in college football history.

Miles and Company have not made offers to recruits to obtain the commitnment of other recruits. If they didn't do it to get the #1 Offensive Tackle last year, and they didn't do it to get the #1 Defensive End two years ago, why does anyone think they would offer McMillan to get Lodge?

Don't miunderstand, Lodge is an amazing WR. I would love to see him continue his connection with McMillan as an LSU Tiger.

However, LSU does NOT make "package" offers. Cam offered McMillan because of McMillan's skill set. I'm sure Cam would love for Lodge to commit to LSU also, but McMillan was offered for McMillan.

Welcome aboard Mr. McMillan!

and reclassified as a dual threat qb.

I think that's true. If he's a 4-star with the same exact film this board is ecstatic. Because he's a three-star everyone looks at him with much more scrutiny. Cam has been around enough great QBs to know what a good one looks like. I also guarantee the kid is bright.

Most here realize rating/ranking QBs is a clusterfrick, and trust Cam to make the right call.
