re: What motivated you to join the military?

Na I've never been big on government assistance. I make a shite load more money than probably 99% of military and don't have to feel guilty about it. If I had been a lazy frick up in my younger days, then I would have fit in perfectly.
So which was it? Were you declined for military service or did you get kicked out of boot camp because you couldn't hack it?

The military doesn't make shite for pay. So if there are persons in (even if only 1%) that make more than you, you in fact don't make a "shite load" of money.
I'm sorry you couldn't cut it for the military. The world need fatties too.
And sorry that you are definitely not and OT baller.
PS: now that I'm out I make more than 100% of the military. (Because that seems to be important to you)

It's amazing, and impressive to me to see the dedication, loyalty, and self sacrifice of so many of the military people I work with. They forgo many promotions, monetary gains, with our company, because they want to be available to serve. And it's not drill weekend pay, it's devotion to their country that motivates them. Awesome individuals.
ETA: most of them work for me, then I found out they're Admirals, Generals, O-6's, and I feel real bad about my haircut and shoes

It doesn't really matter why anyone joined. They all took the same oath, and signed their asses on the dotted line.

Perhaps you are right but that doesn't change the intent of those young men and women that join for that reason. We had a large number of people to join for that express reason right after 9/11.

Great generalization. Which "higher ups" are you referring to? Civilian leadership (i.e. POTUS, SECDEF, etc) or Military leadership?
