Pretty much, although if I had to take a guess, some variation of X1 and 2 still happened, but 3 is completely off the table.

Saw it last night and agree with almost everything you posted. I feel like I need to go watch it again, though

Great performances across the board, but I really liked Quicksilver in this film and wonder if the Avengers will be able to stand up to it.

Only got two beefs with the film

1) Why not keep Quicksilver around? He could have taken out Mystique and everyone else in that room before they knew what hit them? Granted, I actually know why, and that's because the plot would have ended in 20 seconds.

2) I really liked that Magneto killed JFK, and think it was kind of cop out when they said he didn't and said that JFK was a mutant.

Can't think of anything else I really had a problem with.

I personally didn't like theme leaving it open to whether or not future Wolverine is metal or not. I'm sure in te next one they will show it, but I hate when movies leave shite like that open. More of an inconvenience than some mystery.

Possible Spoilers

Crazy theory but since the next film is Age of Apocalypse, we find that Mystique, who is working for Apocalypse, pulls Wolverine out the water and brings him to Apocalypse. He re-bonds the adamantium, and Wolverine along with Gambit will make up 2/4 Horsemen?

Loved it. My biggest problem is it will make me want to see this quicksilver when I'm watching age of ultron.

Wolverine was a horseman at one time with Angel i know, was Gambit supposed to be one too?

Spoilers.....

I found it interesting that they showed Apocalypse as a teenager. I wonder if they will do back story to him during the movie or if it will be more of an action centered movie.

As far as this movie, I thought Spiderman 2 was better and Captain America was much better. This movie was a bit of a clusterfrick in parts that you really needed to read the comics to follow.

I've never read any of the comics, only watched the cartoon, and didn't have any problems following the movie. I may not have known who all the mutants in the future were, but that wasn't essential for enjoying the film.

I've never read a comic before but I watched the cartoon as a kid. I loved it and had no trouble following it. And I thought spiderman 2 was pretty terrible.

Lol, no. I think they got Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy right, but everything else about that film was completely all over the board and a clusterfrick. None of the villains motives make any sense, and Spider-Man was quite frankly just a dick not to give Harry his blood.

Debatable. I think I liked X-Men more, but I have to concede that Captain America is probably the less flawed film. I think both of these may be Top 10 comic book movies for me, but I've honestly never really been a big Captain America fan. Batman was my first and X-Men were always my second, so I may be biased on this one.

It was complicated, but I don't think it was hard to follow. I've never read this storyline in the comics. You have to admire though that Singer had the balls to go after such a complex story arc, and for the most part succeeded.

I agree with this. Spiderman 2 was a great spiderman in the middle of a terrible movie. It was like putting Garfield and stone in spiderman 3. Sure it helped, but they could only do so much.

I thought it was pretty good. Way better than what I expected. McAvoy and Fassbinder are incredible. Glad that wolverine was not the center piece of the movie. Lots of emotions not that as much action, but that is not a bad thing.

I was dissapointed with the lack of character development for the future mutants. Especially with Bishop. This can be corrected if he is in apocalypse along with cable. Also colossus gets barely any time again. Not dissapointed that much though since I read the comics. I would assume someone who hasn't would be more annoyed by this.

Overall damn good movie. And i am someone who has absolutely hated the previous x-men except for first class. I dont think it is better than Captain America 2 but I will say it is my second favorite comic movie. Would still like to see a recast of cyclops though. I Want him to have a presence in apocalypse.

Yeah, but the future wasn't really the point of the movie. The only characters that really mattered in the future are Wolverine, Professor X, and Kitty Pryde. The future serves as nothing but guidance to our characters in the past. They weren't meant to be all that developed, since everyone besides those 3 (and Magneto to a certain extent) were merely the muscle to protect them from the Sentinels. When there's an X-Men film focused solely on the future again, that's when they need to develop these characters. I'm just glad they kept the focus of the film solely on Xavier, Mystique, and Magneto.

I think it's confirmed that that is what is going to happen.

Agree with what you say, but I would rather see it done with less known mutants than have them introduce bishop who plays some pretty important roles in the comics and not get much story on him. This was a very minor gripe though

I will say after seeing this movie, I think Singer can definitely pull the Apocalypse movie off. I'm pretty excited now and I was not at all before

Yeah, I can see your argument now. I just think more fans would bitch that Bishop wasn't a part of this movie than if he had a minor part.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of Apocalypse as an antagonist. I'm just not that big of a fan of most incredibly powerful antagonists that have no personality and are merely just ridiculously powerful to make up for them being boring, villains like Thanos and Doomsday. I was really hoping for Mister Sinister and going with him abducting a young Cyclops and Jean Grey, and Professor X and Magneto have to combine forces and go after them, since Sinister is a much more interesting character than Apocalypse.

But after that end credits sequence, and the fact that I think its likely that Wolverine and Mystique (as well as a retconned Angel) could become 3 of the Horsemen of Apocalypse, I'm sold. That could be incredible if done correctly.

For me Apocalypse was just this mysterious monster mutant who was scary as frick. Loved reading about him in the comics and his portrayal in the cartoon made me have nightmares. But yea not much personality. Did you like the Onslaught saga?

I would like to see Sinister in the next one; hopefully it wont be too much for the movie. I almost want to see an x-force movie before Apocalypse to better introduce cable, bishop and maybe sinister if they decide to use them in Apocalypse (I haven't read if Singer has commented on this yet). Would be kind of disappointing if they didn't show up.

This absolutely needs to be done.
