As far as this movie, I thought Spiderman 2 was better and Captain America was much better. This movie was a bit of a clusterfrick in parts that you really needed to read the comics to follow.

Don't remember if I commented in this thread...

...saw this this morning.

Honestly it's the 2nd best superhero movie of the year.

And frankly it completely nulls that disaster of a movie X3...which...really...needed...to happen.

And it was about damn time that Wolverine was not the central part of the Xmen movie.

I'm sorry, but there is no rational argument on how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is better than this film. That film was a clusterfrick.

If you see anyone posting video of the Quicksilver scenes locally, he's the cigarette smelling a-hole that sat in front of me and held up his phone to record every frame of Pietro footage. I knew when something cool was about to happen, because cancer man would turn on his phone and start recording.

Spoilers for Amazing Spider-Man 2

I just don't know how to summarize that movie in a sentence. "Spider-Man for some reason pisses off a lot of people and they kill his girlfriend" is the best I can come up with. I'm struggling to think of an actual plot that the film had. Days of Future Past had a clear act structure, a clear climax, and clear conflict. Just the fact that it has that going for it makes it better by default.

The first encounter with Rhino served no purpose whatsoever, while the first conflict in DoFP showed the audience what the world had turned into, what they're up against, and how they could possibly defeat this threat. The first 20 minutes of Spider-Man was a complete waste of time, while DoFP perfectly set the stage.

I just personally enjoyed AS2 more. Can't really explain why, I like the heroes more though I think James McAvoy is amazing as a young Xavier and was amazing in this movie and Fassbender was really good. i thought the centralized Mystique plot was not very good though and I didn't think Lawrence held up her end of the movie.

I'm not taking a shite on this movie, I still thought it was solid but I thoroughly enjoyed Amazing Spiderman 2 which I didn't for DoFP.

It was a very well developed opening acts that drew me in.

Yeah, but there should have been a plot other than that. Honestly, I don't know the motivation of the villains. With Green Goblin I do, and it has entirely to do with the fact that his best friend was a complete and total a-hole on not giving him the cure to his disease. I know he was concerned with "what his blood could do to him"; but seriously, if my best friend was begging for a cure to a fatal disease and I somehow had it and was mostly ignorant of the side effects that would happen if I gave it to him, I would give it to my best friend in a heartbeat and worry about the ramifications later. Could it have turned out any possibly worse than it did in the movie?

well that was the directly from the comic except that she kills someone else. If they had changed that as well, it would have ruined the adaptation.

I liked the first one but AS2 looked like it was made to appeal to a much younger crowd. I thought it was awful.

I don't think DOFP had a clear storyline going for it either. In the beginning, what was Xavier's motivation for being a drunk? His school got drafted? Your mutants, frick the draft. What's Magento's motivation for killing Mystique? All he had to do was get her out of the situation, and boom- they don't have her DNA.

More than anything else, you already have 2 movies(or 3) that have absolutely no mention of the Super Sentinals yet being set far in future of this one. If they green-lighted this Sentinal program, it surely would have put into place after the first X-men movie. How was Mystique even alive for X1 X2?

They basically sacrificed First Class to include Hugh Jackman and Wolverine.

How did Xavier get his body back after X3? I read that they were uncannonzing X3 but they had flashbacks to it.

There is actually an after-credits scene in X3 where it's implied that Xavier transferred his consciousness to his brain dead twin brother before Phoenix killed him. Apparently his brother was born brain dead because Charles' brain was so powerful he basically took all of his brainpower. So he saved himself by moving himself over to his body before dying. He's a twin so he looks the same.

The "future" professor X in DOFP is professor X in his twin brothers body.

Well he said lots of times that he wanted her alive. I assumed he got enough samples to get what he needed and in the process she lost her memories/humanity, but magneto broke her out and she became loyal to him.

Well I think it got funding for research but not approval for implementation. The events of xmen weren't nearly as public as x3. Plus the main anti mutant figure became pro mutant after xmen.

Seemed clear to me. End the Sentinel program.

Raven left him, then his students. He lost his family, his cause, and his powers.

In his mind, she would never stop until Trask was dead. He thought that he knew her better than Xavier did.

In the comics, the Sentinels were created in the 1960's. Days of Future Past came out in the 1980's. The Sentinels weren't a constant threat to the X-Men, they just showed up every few years to give them trouble. It's believable that the Sentinels in the movie universe also took decades before being able to become the world conquering threat that they became in DOFP. We're talking about the Sentinels not appearing in three movies. We've had a thousand X-Men comics that had no mention of the Sentinels.

I thought that they said she'd been captured and studied and tortured. I didn't know that they'd said she'd been killed.

The main characters from First Class are still intact. Hopefully the next movie will introduce a young Scott, Jean, and Storm to the team.
