So the GF has been great and I like her a lot, she's really cool. But I just met her mom and if she ends up like that, frick that. Her mom is ridiculously emotional and dramatic. She was brought to tears a few times throughout the weekend for things that I couldn't understand at all. She spent a large amount of time bitching about her boss, money problems, and problems with where she lived. And she also gets drunk every night.

Literally every girl I've dated longer than a few months has shown signs of being her mother.
People put on a front when they start seeing someone and when they start getting comfortable they start showing their true colors.

I don't understand why you guys are being so over-dramatic.
Exactly. What a bunch of drama Queens.
I'm probably way older than most of you guys and I call B.S. on the daughter is sure to pick up on the mother's emotional problems.
There are so many reasons she could be that way. divorce, financial, menopause.
The fact she told the OP Mom was a little out of it is a good sign to me. She recognizes that. It's her mother. I'm sure she loves her unconditionally and still feels close to her despite her issues.
Predicate your relationship with the Girl on the girl. Not her family. ( except for looks, she's going to look plenty like Mom at her age) .

Well congrats, I am just like my mom! A lot of her bad traits but a lot of good one's too!
What's the deal with the exclamation points?

Well, the daughter/gf also cries and acts overly dramatic and doesn't appear to have any of those stressors.
Plus from what I recall from the OP she didn't act like her mother's behavior was that crazy almost like she didn't even notice.
There may be other indicators for the OP to look at to help decide. Does she have other normal-seeming relationships, eg, other relatives, friends? Does she handle anxiety or stress in a reasonable way?
GF could be okay or she could be a ticking time bomb set to explode after you're bound by ring and kids.

My sister has little by little become my mother. It's really funny because she never wanted to be like her.
what i love is watching my oldest daughter became her mom. i make it a point to tell both of them they are two peas in a pod.
of ccourse they both deny it
