one comentator even said the nfl needed to draft him 'because of the story line'. Seems there is crying in football after all. Should there now be a new stat 'PU' to go along with tackles and sacks for penis use?

I've been channel surfing sports shows all morning. It's Michael Sam wall to wall all the time.
One woman analyst said that Sam's resume dictated that he should have been picked in the first or second round. Inferring discrimination in his going in the 7th.
Confirms my oft stated axiom... Sports Journalists are Journalists First. Sports comes waaaay down the line.

Ultimately gay athletes will get their due just like African Americans. It will just take some time. It's an issue, that while it should be encouraged subtly, it should not be forced. People think these team owners and GM's are vicious racists who can't fathom the thought of a gay guy on their team. This is not true. These teams have millions upon millions tied up as an investment in their rosters. You can't blame them for being cautious about adding a mediocre player with limited upside to their roster who has the chance (albeit a small chance) of harming the locker room chemistry. Ultimately these teams want to win. And once a gay guy with the talent to help them do that at the NFL level comes along, he'll be accepted.

Be Gay, be happy about it, just shut the hell up about it. All the time, everybody, everyday. I DO NOT CARE.

Attention seeking.

The man was celebrating in his own home with his family and friends. He shouldn't have to apologize because gay men kissing offends some people.

Is he discriminated against? Not really, but he is definitely receiving undeserved criticism for what happened.

Why aren't we discussing the fact that Jackson Jeffcoat was clearly discriminated against for being straight? He was defensive player of the year for his conference also and did not even get drafted! I demand an apology and an investigation into this outrage. The NFL must conform exactly to my outlook on life without exception and I will not stop until I have single-handedly changed the culture that has worked just fine for everyone else until now.

In all seriousness, that last couple of sentences is why this pisses me off so much. I could not care less that he is gay. It just pisses me off when an outsider comes into an organization and says, "You have to change your culture to fit my idealogy even though I have nothing to do with your organization and don't personally have to live with any consequences of forcing a change in culture." My immediate reaction is a big old "frick You!" Only because I am Libertarian and cannot stand one group telling another group how to handle their business.

Will a plurality eventually see gay sex as NOT immoral?

Because that's what all these antics are about...trying to convince people that dirt diving is totally normal.

the media is obsessed with Michael Sam right now. Is this what they gay lobby really want? Do they want all of this coverage? I know it helps their cause but man it really is going a lot into this guys personal life.

You all know I'm against gay marriage but I ask the media let Michael Sam have his private life and stop broadcasting it to the world. People should just let Michael Sam be Michael Sam don't bug him with all this gay stuff. Every time Michael Sam comes out on the field it will be about him being openly gay and not being a good football player.
