Any recommendations? I've looked at the sportdog 425 and 825.

We have a sportdog for our lab. No complaints. Rarely use it though.

I had a Dogtra when I had my lab, not sure what model. Pretty good collar imo.

My chessie has had a sport dog collar on since he could out run me. (About 4 months old) started with an sd-800 and now he has an sd-1625 or whatever it is. You can ruin a dog with a collar but they are good tools when used right

Tri-tronics, spend the money they are worth it. I've had mine four several years. Once your dogs learned the collar all you will need is the buzz option.

I have a Tritronics. It works just fine. But as others have said, be sure you know how and when to use it. I had my dog trained. I spent two afternoons with the trainer and my dog before I took her home, so the trainer could teach me proper use of the collar. Those were important lessons. I learned to lay off, when I might have been tempted to use the collar. And I know of a couple of guys, who screwed up what should have been good dogs, because they ddn't know how or when to use the collar.
