If hanagriff teaches you about the game you are clueless.

CALLED STRIKE THREE

How would YOU call a third strike that was called by the umpire ant the batter hadn't swung the bat?

Maybe, "strike three but it wasn't as a result of a batter's effort, but rather was the result of the umpire's judgement"?

Would that be better for you?

He doesn't even say CALLED STRIKE THREE.

He says; "Strike three caaaaaalled"

When it comes to baseball he is 20x the PBP as Hawthorn.

The Hawthorne bashing is funny. Some people need something to bitch about, I guess.

Byte are there more Hawthorne or Bradley Dale Peveto family members on TD? You can probably tell by IPs.

I'm not sure, but it's not even close to the amount of idiots that use that tired "must be family" argument.

I love the familiarity and nostalgia of listening to Hawthorne but I listened to him Friday and the ole miss guys Saturday and I thought how nice it was to listen to the announcers who got things right...they also spent time talking about other games in SEC and the implications of them...
I wouldn't say Hawthorne sux but he definitely has his limitations...

I am not "random bitching."

I graduated from the Manship School almost 20 years ago.

I used to do football PBP for a living.

I used to be a mass communication professor.

I used to teach a course in sports broadcasting.

Nobody has even addressed the complaints and criticisms I posted about 3 pages ago. Except to call me "petty" because I expect announcers to properly pronounce names.

Perfect example:

Thursday night tie game top of the 9th. LSU gets the leadoff runner on and is looking to bunt him down to 2nd...

"Ibarra gets a perfect bunt down and the throw to 2nd is on time to get him"

WAT?!?

Throw was actually to 1st. He never corrected himself just went right along with the game. Doubt he even realized the call he just blew in one of the biggest spots in the game.

This just one example of something that happens numerous times each game. Add to that the fricked up name pronunciations, lack of basic baseball rules and his nega-Jim attitude when we're playing bad... Its time to hang it up... At least for baseball.

Ok, I'm one who likes him.

Try listening to TAM OR ARKIE and you will see who is bad.

I am impressed beyond words. I assume that you are currently a working journalist.

More impressed. ESPN?

Retired after your Pulitzer?

I used to teach a course in sports broadcasting.

Before or after your ESPY?

quote:

I expect announcers to properly pronounce names.

Then what is the proper way to pronounce the name of LSU's stadium?

Through all of this I am supposing that you have absolute NO accent (an impossibility), never use colloquialisms (that one is a stretch), have never made any mistake (what professor ever does?), are lonely sitting alone you your mountaintop of perfection (truly believable), or are pathetic little wannabee that just likes to join the usual post LSU game anti-Hawthorne lynch mob because it makes you feel like a badazz (highly probable).

I'll give you this: you are a better friend than I would be.

I hope Jim is paying you off handsomely for such a strong defense of his work.

I doubt he cares since he's blown three of the biggest calls of his life.

1996 baseball Championship (calling it a 3 run homer)

2009 baseball championship (saying LSU fell behind and came back and won)

Bluegrass Miracle (..you know)
