The only thing that would make this story better is if you told us you started singing lion king circle of life in the back room
Zim ba ba way da zim ba ba way
Zim ba ba way da zim ba ba way

Haven't been posting much, but I thought I'd update yall on this.
After forgetting about this situation for a while, I got the letter from the TBA yesterday.
The fine is $3,000; if I pay within 30 days without a fuss, it is automatically reduce to $1,500. They give you four other options for submitting info, requesting a lower fine with evidence of hardship, hearings, etc. This is a civil fine that is separate from any criminal charges that may be filed by NOPD, FBI, etc.
I think paying half may be the best option. What would the OB do?

Depends on how much you value your own time.
I'd go ahead with the 1500, but if you felt like going one of the other routes, you could probably get it reduced further.

Absolutely pay half, but does any of this stay on "permanent record"?
Also, sorry to bust chops but what good is a firearm if you dont know where it is at all times? It is either for you or against you.

You would be paying half and you know it. Big shot.
I would gladly cut a check for $1500

Seems like double jeopardy, going to make you pay a fine which will indicate your guilt if you agree to pay, then we will charge you for the same crime that we already fined you for.

My 1,500 would go towards a lawyer, I ain't trying to be the best at going to jail for some stupid shite.

At least consult an atty with experience in this. If you can possibly get it dropped/reduced, you'd be better suited paying him than the feds.
You can probably get that in a 15 minute consult. Worth $100-150 IMO, even if you still come out of pocket the $1,500
