I frequently see supporters of Obama cite statistics that Louisiana receives more in federal spending per capita than its residents pay in taxes. If those statistics are true, then the statement of yours I quoted is not true unless the state of Louisiana is paying more for what you think we are not getting from this one decision than the amount we were receiving in excess of what we were paying cited by others.

You just described about half of all expenditures of income taxes.
You will probably say it is a safety net available to all, but I have heard far too many first hand accounts of despite being married with kids and earning barely above minimum wage; they were actually advised by the workers to work less to gain eligibility.
That isn't a safety net to help people back on their feet and therefore nothing that applies to most of the posters here even if the shite hits the fan.

I just sent a check to Uncle Sam to pay for a bunch of shite I don't get (Food Stamps, Welfare, free health insurance). I also pay for shite I don't use at the state level (public education).
Anywhere I can not pay for shite I won't use makes me happy.
