The number of uninsured Americans in red states that have opted out of the ACA's Medicaid expansion is 50% higher than in states that embraced the Medicaid expansion. LINK

And for what, really does Jindal continue to reject Medicaid expansion except that he's butthurt that his Party lost the Obamacare battle? Jindal's stated reasons for refusing $1.65 billion in Federal aid (when Louisiana taxpayers are footing the bill along with the rest of the country) and denying coverage to 242,000 Louisianians are all hogwash.

For example, Jindal states that accepting the Medicaid expansion amounts to discrimination against Americans with disabilities when many of them, too, would benefit from the expansion with better programs and services, and when the ACA does not reduce the funding or state management rules of those in that category.

His objection then boils down to one fact that annoys him: that more people in Louisiana would be covered at government expense. That's an ideological rather than a practical objection, one that has flown the coop when most of the rest of America is all too willing to accept the upside of the ACA.

Call Jindal's office and ask him to stop his lies about the ACA's medical expansion. I already have.

Medicaid is one of the ponzi schemes that is bankrupting America. Needs to be done away with.

Louisiana residents are paying for health care they won't receive because Jindal has rejected Medicaid expansion:

1) he'd the Governor of the State of Louisiana;

2) he has an obligation to make sure not to frick the state fiscally after he leaves;

3) the cost of Medicaid expansion is MORE recipients and a tab to the state of at least 10% after 3 years:

4) Louisiana can't print it's own money.

Maybe it's a subliminal message to get the riff raff to move out of state if they want free insurance.

Personally, I thank him for saving me, the taxpayer, some money. If my governor had done the same we all would be saving some more taxpayer's money.

So by getting this Medicaid expansion, Americans will not die? Ever?

Uh, I aint buying it

I'm willing to ban bet that every American will die whether, they have Medicaid or not, amirite?

So what it boils down to is that you want people that have applied themselves and worked hard to secure prosperity for their families, to now take care of all the people who have spent untold amounts of money, on, oh I dont know, dog supplies?

I wonder if all the money you have spent on dogs over the years was applied to helping the sick, how many wouldnt die this year?

Dubious data.

Nonetheless, the issue is ultimately taxpayer cost. Currently the costs would be shouldered by the Feds. Later . . . not so much.

When correspondant state obligations kick in, the chickens will come home to roost.

Until the Feds vote to reduce the distribution percentage, or the Executive branch does it via executive order, or they don't renew it at the end of ten year period prescribe by the Act.

Then what?

Louisiana is strapped with a financial obligation it couldn't possibly meet.

Okay Rexella I'll play the bad thread titles Bozo side of things. "Killing Americans Bozo needs to stop his lies on every death of a citizen working without any protection or enforcement of federal govt. taking a stand against the perpetrators. Take a peek at border agents doing their job and dying with guns supplied with guns from the DOJ. For a more in your face death from the Bozo side of the street take a look at the remote control deaths out of northern Florida. How many deaths(don't forget collateral damage) came from the skies in the form of a drone with out a trial?
Did those people deserve a trial but not given a chance of one? Approaching the two year anniversary we can add to the total the numbers by four at an embassy ant the administration still relies on lies and subterfuge to cover up the truth about that one. See how easy it is to pay the blame game when you actually have an argument with respect to real deaths adding up.

In the meantime, Florida's similar butt-hurt refusal to accept the ACA expansion of Medicaid has cost three young children their hardworking mother:

Louisiana is far from the only state opting out of this Medicaid expansion. Jindal is not standing out by taking this stance.

I called my governor's office to thank him for opting out of the Medicaid expansion. We can't afford it either just like Louisiana.

Let me start by saying I don't like either side in this battle. But, by not expanding Medicaid, Jindal is really hurting people that need it. Believe it or not, not everyone on Medicaid is a jobless loser. My youngest son has Medicaid as a secondary because he is disabled. Which is common for children with disabilities. I work full time but even with myself and my ex husband (his dad) working good jobs, we cannot afford everything he needs. The state recognized that several years ago and made it possible for families like mine to receive Medicaid as a secondary. Which is good. When they cover things. They cover a fair amount of the "little" things (namely diapers and pediasure). But when it comes to the big things, they have been denying and delaying us drastically since the changes. His doctor ordered a wheelchair in November. We had the evaluation in early December. We still have not received the chair because Medicaid denied it based on a 3 year old report. We had to appeal and point out that his condition is progressive. So it makes sense that he cannot do the things he could do 3 years ago. They denied his leg braces and corrective shoes. Because he already got a pair of each. A year ago. The braces were broken and the shoes didn't fit. Doesn't matter. It took 4.5 months to get an approval. The braces were delivered last week and the chair tomorrow. BCBS approved them months ago. But, with the DME and 20% we owe, it would be roughly $9K we would pay this month alone. And that's just for the equipment. That doesn't include the meds that neither covers or the surgery he was supposed to have this week. Or the weekly infusions. I am grateful to have some help, but I have been told time and again that be a use of the "changes" Medicaid is basically denying everything right now. Except basic care. So, my son has been in a lot of pain for the past few months. He's worn out from having to walk and sit in chairs at school that don't support his weak muscles. A geneticist, physiatrist, OT and PT all were involved in ordering and picking out the chair and braces with the right support. And someone who has never even seen my kid decided he didn't need the equipment. All because of the "changes." I don't like the system. I don't like Obama or Jindal or anyone but his doctors and myself choosing what is best for him. But I don't have $9,000 so in addition to keeping my job, taking him to therapy and doctors and infusions and scheduling surgery and trying to keep him in school (the 3 days a week he is scheduled to go), I have to jump through their hoops. I'm against giving lazy people free anything. But to the people who assume that everyone on medicaid is lazy and worthless, I'd truly love for you to spend a week with me and then tell me my 9 year old doesn't deserve the little but of help he receives and that I have to basically work a second job in order to get.

You're an idiot. His objections is that sure, the Federal gov't will see the match in funds for the first ten (10) years of the expansion.

Then the burden falls back onto the state to provide the increase in the matching funds, which we do not have money in the budget to provide.
