Serio's has sucked since at least the mid 1990's. I can't believe they've made it this long.

Have you tried it in the last few months. I don't know anything about it, but wondered if they improved.

Besh said pretty much the same thing you did. He was really disappointed in their food.

the thing with a place like that, is the ambiance is all it a had.

you cant get a makeover and be all shiny and new with shitty food.

but if you keep the old look, that is something customers can at least hold on to

This.

I like the way it looks on the inside and the folks who run it.

But the food is VERY average at best. And the po-boys are not to my liking either. Just walk a few blocks down St.Charles towards Poydras to Fred-Ricks for a MUCH better po-boy.

Place didn't really need an "overhaul" as much as they just needed to start giving a shite about the food they were actually putting out.

(ETA, Just realized, I sort of contradicted my post from several months ago, but, oh well.)

I get what y'all are saying and Besh said the same thing.

What I am wondering is if any of you have been there since May of this year to see if the investment Besh et. al. made in it has made the food better.

Exactly. You turn it into a Walk-On's atmosphere but don't improve the quality / taste of the food then you gain no new customers PLUS now you're in the whole for the renovation.

I used to walk down and get a Muffaletta from Mike each Mardi Gras. Hope he is still making them.

MG wouldn't be the same without that Serio's Muff and some Popeye's fried chicken.

I've only visited once and who I had to assume was Mike made an arse out of himself screaming at an employee.
This was 15 or so years ago and the pain in the arse guy I was with had some picky order he placed. Whatever it was was stupid and one of the girls screwed it up. When Mike(or whoever) found out he yelled at her over and over in front of a packed reastuarant.

No I haven't tried it in 16 years or so. Unless I hear some favorable news, I'll not go again.

Just saw the show where Serios went against a little place called Juneaus for an investment from Taffer, Besh and Tiffany_____.

Serios got the win.

Have any of you been there since the update?

When was that show? I deleted most of the ones I taped because the show pretty much sucks and appears to be contrived in many ways. I think it's still taping though.

I went to the Pearl. Hate when old places like that one closes. Had a neat old vibe to it like I could imagine people from the past going in there or maybe it was their ghosts frolicking around, but I could picture it somehow.

I used to go to Serio's as a kid b/c my dad's office was in the Whitney Bank Building but for the life of me I cannot remember what I used to get there. Place St. Charles was always my preferred lunch spot during the summers stuck at his office anyway.

Serio's was totally gross and the guy was as obnoxious of an LSU fan as I've ever seen. The grime in that place was an inch thick. Who knows if the tap lines were ever clean but the Andygator draft I last had there was disgusting.
