Wait, weren't you the one who said it SHOULD be called the Dallas Final Four in the OP?
Damn, man

Yea, I'd imagine those on the bidding committee are from all over the DFW Metroplex and since DFW Metroplex doesn't identify the location of the event in Arlington...North Texas makes the most sense.

Not the same thing at all.
This is an event. An event that is not in Dallas.

Exactly.
And you can't call it the Final Four in Dallas/Fort Worth, because the event/stadium is in neither of those cities.

No, didn't say SHOULD...just an option since they didn't want to use the name Arlington the actual city its in for whatever reason.

Yup, it's all about keeping the businesses happy, and in an area as fractured (municipally) as the DFW Metroplex, this is the result, as a matter of course.

Because the committee isn't just Arlington representatives.

No, it's not an option.

Although not presented on the logo, the last Super Bowl was branded as the New York/New Jersey Super Bowl.
Not the New York Super Bowl. Although going across state lines is different than going across city limits, it's the same idea.

This. All the Final Fours have a host school(s). TCU and SMU are probably the hosts and seeing that one is in Dallas, one is in Fort Worth, and the stadium is in Arlington, it probably makes everyone happy to say North Texas.

They should say it's in DFW.
No one considers that to be North Texas.
Amarillo is north Texas.

To be honest, I was wondering the same thing. I just now found out what city it was in. When I first heard it I thought they were saying it would be on UNT's campus. I kept thinking surely UNT can't support this unless they play off campus. I just don't understand why the host city isn't named and who gives a shite about some representatives. It just sounds weird.

Umm, I do.
But I also originally hail from South Texas (San Antonio).
