He actually ran that last year. And he's well over 200 pounds now

He could be a Brandon Taylor type safety for us
I'd actually compare him to Landon Collins due to his freakish athleticism. But I know thats a name not many on this board want to see

Why does everybody think safety? Does he play defense at all? I like him as an APB myself. Maybe more slot than RB. We didn't get to see Jeryl Brazil, and Merritt seems like he brings more to the table.

Brazil had world class speed though, but I see what you're saying.

Would love to see Kirk in P&G. Seems like a physical freak and great competitor. I won't get too wrapped up in where he best fits - there's plenty of time for that TBD.

Alabama probably wants him just to keep him out of A&M's or LSU's hands.

It just seems that every in state player says this...lsu simply does not make the amount of contact as other schools. We get out-recruited every year. And these kids just have hard ons for saban.
We have to beat them consistently to change this culture, and we need our coaches to start contacting these kids as much as legally possible.

We need our "fans" to get off of sabans nuts.
Kids grow up around negative miles people all their lives and we get surprised that they want to play for te guy who is idolized still?

I do not disagree... I defend CLM all the time. Again, the only way to change this culture is to consistently beat him.
This being said....come to lsu kirk!!!

didn't we just finish second in the nation in recruiting last year? out recruited by one team?
Very simple, lsu recruits these kids hard. If the recruit doesn't have the same passion, go find someone out of state who is equally as good and value's lsu's recruitment/program.
A lot of the louisiana kids are spoiled to lsu. LSU recruits them first, they don't see LSU as one of the elite programs like out of state kids do. Time to recruit them, if they don't show the passion, find someone who does. No more begging. There are plenty who would like to swap spots with them. a little humility will go a long way.

Collins was 6 ft 210 in high school, Merritt is around 5'11 and 206. Negligible size difference at best. He might not be as flat out fast as Collins was, but I just see a similar athleticism between the two. I also think his best bet to make it in the NFL is at safety, but thats a decision he and his coaches will have to make in the future. Kid is a player no matter where you put him.

Kirk isn't that tall. Recruiting site info isn't always accurate.

Trey Quinn just ran a 10.4 100m.
Hand timed. That would be 10.7 - 10.9 (FAT).

Trey Quinn ran 11.0 at the last two meets he has run. He has good speed, but 10.4 is disingenuous.

No - we shouldn't say he runs it consistently.
I say "Trey ran a 10.4" to counter questions about his speed.
Saying he consistently runs 11 flat, at 200 pounds with his skills, simply means, "He's carrying football weight and is still elite speed, bordering on near-world class."
I'll take it in a football package like Trey Quinn, honestly, all day, every day.
