What makes you say we want him for WR/RB exclusively?

Because I don't see him fitting in as a CB at LSU. Raymond likes the taller, longer corners with an occasional "undersized" stud like Tre White in the fold. Merritt looks like an APB more than anything else.

Kirk ran (FAT) 10.76 in the 100m last Thursday.

That's impressive.

its his choice but that is too much of an individual act instead of a team act.
I guess Dupre isn't enough of a "team guy" for you then.

who cares if it's from al.com, it was a direct quote he said the schools who are recruiting him the hardest and lsu wasn't one of them

dupre was different because of the restrictions placed on him by john curtis hs. I'm not saying guys can't wait until signing day but to be PLANNING for nsd this early is different.

dude is a great athlete but where will he play? can't put him at running back and wide receiver is deep this year...lsu seems to be passing on a lot of WR talent from in state.

After watching his highlights I couldn't agree more with this post. At LSU he would have to be a Skylar Green type player. I really don't see him being featured very well at any school that he mentioned. Probably should look at the type of spread that teams like Oregon use. Aggies and AU spread wouldn't work for him because they utilize bigger backs and feature bigger receivers as their primary options. And Bama would just use him in the return game only.

He's doing like many kids do now, leaving LSU off purposely because they are tired of being called LSU locks and asked the question a million times. We haven't backed off at this point. The people that ask the kids those questions know exactly what they're doing and it works.

There are definitely "reporters" that do shite like that on purpose to sour kids on certain schools. That's why you should always consider the source.

Just because it comes from a legit newspaper's site doesn't mean the reporter isn't a shitbag.

Before all the "That's what they said about Speedy" people jump in, this is true, and Frank was told the night before 1/2 by SN that he was coming.

Good point about the source of that info--has a definite Bama bias. I would like to see what other media sources and recruiting experts think.

It is still over 10 months before NSD and very premature to think the Tigers are out of the running for Merritt. At a comparable time last year, LSU was not viewed as having a strong chance to land Jamal Adams, so things can definitely change as we all should realize.

Does he play safety, or defense in general, at Destrehan? Gonna be hard to crack the safety depth chart with all the talent we're recruiting and already have in the fold.

Is it bad I keep reading that as Kirk Hemmett?

I see Merritt as a APB, who might end up on the defensive side of the ball, because he is so athletic - looks to be a Swiss Army knife type of player. I believe he wants to play offense, though, and that should be the starting point.

Great offer sheet.

I have no idea if we have other guys higher on the board, if he is "trolling"/being asked leading questions by a rival reporter, or he just doesn't like LSU that much.

I do think he would be a great addition to our class that could be utilized very well by Cam and the rest of the staff. Hope he picks the good guys.

Yea I like him at Safety also.

If he doesn't want to come to LSU or has a problem with LSU then we shouldn't worry about it. (By not even mentioning LSU, I take it as either or as any person with common sense should)

Right. If he doesn't want to come here, that's cool. We're not hurting at safety or running back.

But I think his tune will change
