Albuquerque police chief says shooting was justified. Man was mentally ill and had previous encounters with police.
APD now accounts for 22 shooting deaths since 2010.

I'm surprised it's not a higher number considering where Albuquerque is located and the types of people the APD probably has to deal with on a regular basis.

Damn that's rough.. Looks like an unjustified killing to me.. He clearly turned his back and was shot.. If you have the dogs, why not let them do their job

The cops basically shot him in the back and THEN decided to use nonlethal means to subdue him...after he was pretty much dead.
These cops should be tried for murder and executed if found guilty.

I lived in Albuquerque for about 6 months last year. I swear it seemed like APD was shooting someone at least once a month.

I've investigated shootings before........and thats a bad shooting.
Even though he has knives in his hands, with the terrain, number of officers, and dog, its gonna be hard to justify that.
The only way you can justify that is if you thought he was turning to pick up a gun, and that would be a stretch.
I would expect the AG's office or Feds to look into this shooting.

Nothing new here, cops trying to cover their arse like usual.
Chief says all non lethal forces were used and I guarantee that's pretty much bullshite just by looking at the non-lethal shotgun in the vid.
Cops should be fired and arrested. It should be noted that one of the cops involved was actually fired by state police a while back and signed up with APD then only as a civillian but he somehow magically got a gun and badge back. Unreal.
