Not my first choice either, but we'll be there 4 days and one in my party would like some Italian. Taking reservations now makes Irene's more attractive, though I hear you still have to wait sometimes, just not as long.

For a contrarian pt of view, I would suggest Mariza over Irene's. Completely different style, but definitely worth a comparison.

Next Italian I eat over that way will be Italian Barrel. I'm dying for a $50 cold cut plate paired with a $60 cheese plate, all imported from Italy. I'd think you'd need two couples or a very near bed to eat all of that. Two bottles of wine later and lights out.

Our last meal at Maximos, finally sat at the grill, was great as well.
