Hey remember when the whole world said this in the 1930s? How did that work out again?

(Not saying I want war, but it needs to be considered)

The Ukraine doesn't have any spots in risk, that always bothered me.

Your understanding of the world, America especially, is miss guided.

Read a little bit and stop watching media outlets.

There will be no war for now since Obama has made it clear repeatedly that he's willing to do anything in order to have "peace in our time". But like has already been said, history repeats itself. Putin, like Hitler, is emboldened by what he sees as weakness on the part of the West. If he has further territorial aspirations (such as the Baltic states for example) he will continue to push us further and further into a corner until war is our only remaining option.

Bottom line is that had Obama not made the US look feckless and weak on the world stage, none of this would be happening.

That's ridiculous.

1. No one has bombed our country and taken out half the naval fleet.

2. There's no serious problem with a depression (other than welfare state)

what a prick you are. I'm just asking a topic of discussion. Did I say I want war with Russia? No

What I am saying is that an ally of ours has had an invasion followed by an annexation by Russia.
What do we do at this point?

It reminds me of how Hitler took the Sudetenland and claimed it was liberating it's people there. I mean exactly what Putin is saying.

Putin wants to restore the USSR in my opinion.

Didn't he make this clear in one of his speeches? I thought I remember him saying something to the fact of bringing Russia back to power.

On the surface, sure. But honestly, there's no one in the world that would do what hurler did again. There are too many organizations, allies, MONEY, and trade lines between too many countries for something like that to happen again.

There's nothing Russia would gain by starting something of that magnitude and Putin doesn't come off as someone that wants to take over Europe.

Only thing that actually pushed us into war. Plus this happened at the very end of 1941. Hitler had been slowly taking power in Europe throughout the mid to late 30s.

Don't know how this is relevant. I know that the war production brought millions of people jobs who needed them in the early 40s. But are you saying that we couldn't enter a large scale war now because people don't need the production jobs?

I believe this may be the case. If he tries, there will be war, period.

The thing that makes this situation dangerous, is the weakness shown by Obama is giving Outin the idea that making such a move to restore the former Soviet Union is a plausible option with a good chance at what he considers success.

This situation should be a lesson to everyone. The best way to ensure peace is not to try and appease everyone and makes them like you. Rather the best way to ensure peace is to make it clear to the world that war with you cannot end well for whoever is dumb enough to try it.

I don't think he wants to take over Europe, just make the world recognize/fear Russia again.

We're not going to war with Russia over Crimea or Ukraine.
