Considering US median household income is ~50k, I would say somewhere around 100k and upper class would be anywhere above 250k.

So, what do you call the income that falls between 100k and 250k?

IMO middle class is from 75k or so to 250k. If you make over 250k you're probably considered upper class. from 150k to 250k upper middle class. 75k to 150k middle class.

I guess you didn't read my response.

100k-250k - Upper middle class
250k - Upper class

Of course this is dependent on region, salary isn't the only indicator, etc. But at a national level based on average household incomes I think that is a decent scale. As someone posted before less than 5% of US households make over 250k, that says upper class to me, not middle.

How do you think middle class starts at 75k when the median (see: middle) US household income is 50k? Some of you people are straight delusional.

I agree with the first part of this statement. Upper middle is 150k up. But to state that 75k is the bottom of the middle class is laughable. Tons of people making due on less than 75k a year for a family. And they are still considered middle class. Hell, middle class probably goes all the way down to the poverty line. I'm pretty sure my family would make it on a 50k income if we needed to and you wouldn't think we were poor.
